Polaroid A500 Digital Camera - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Need battery charger
You could try to buy a charger from Polaroid, but not only will that be expensive, it could be almost impossible to find the same one you had.
I do use two universal chargers, for my camera's. mine are from GP, but I'm convinced there are other brands to. One charger, I need to adjust the spacing between the contacts, but not tree are chargers, that don't need any adjustment. The voltage needed, is found by the charger, the moment you connect the battery.
Because I do have a Kodak (3,7V) a Canon (3,7 volt) and a Nikon (7,2 volt) I have to adjust, but all batteries are charged every time.
When traveling I only need to take one charger for 2 or 3 different cameras. Next camera? I can leave the charger in the box.
same could go for you too.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
Can not set the color
This sounds like the ccd is bad. The best thing to do is to run it by a camera repair shop, and have them take a look at it, and see what they say. Get an estimate if you decide to have it repaired, since the cost of repair can exceed that of a new camera.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Ciao Pino.

Try downloading it from:
http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/POLAROID/A500-_E
After locating (on right column, below the sponsored links) the link for: "download the complete user guide", you'll see another screen that asks you for your "rating" of this camera, etc. Then click on the "Download the user guide" button, to get the pdf file that you can view (on your computer) and/or print.

Hi.. this is a common problem. Can be resolved by cleaning
your battery terminal in your camera. Open the battery compartment
and take a look at the terminals. Are they dirty??? If so use a qtip and isopropyl alcohol.
That should do the trick. If not then let me know.

If you are using the Automatic setting you should be getting fairly good pictures. Cameras are programed to make things easy in this setting and to make us happy.
If you are using the Priority settings (Shutter Priority/Aperture Priority) or Manual setting and getting bad pictures the best thing to do is either get a book on how the camera works or do a course. You have to be the Master of your Camera - even if it is a little 'happy snappy'. If you understand how a camera works you can apply it to all cameras. There is a relationship between Aperture and Shutter (that I call Zen) that gives you the correct exposure. i think a little study may help you....
I have tried downloading photos from the camera

Card locked
Hello
OK, if the memory card itself is locked, you might
sometimes get this error code. All you need to do is to take out the
memory card and switch the lever on the left side to the unlock.
If
the error is still displayed after you did the above, you might want to
try the card in another camera.
If
the card works in another camera . the problem is with your card reader
in your camera.
If you open you sd slot and look inside with a
sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot
there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work
as follows:
1. When no card is inserted / no write protection ,
the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked
card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the
card is lock.
Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the
sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence
the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera
without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card
normally.
It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because
of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you
can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the
base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to
bend it.
If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a
short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled
to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

4 GB memory card = 6 pictures
See the camera specifications, whether it supports memory cards above 2gb, if it supports it must have the "sdhc logo", most of the old camera's dos'nt have support for memory cards of capacity 4gb and above.
Is ther a hand book for this camera
