My tv started flashing and loseing picture then gose off then on by its self

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not. Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom. What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.5_16_2012_3_41_50_pm.jpg

LG 50PC3D capacitors bubbled on the powerboard.

Not familiar with your set but check for a separate, smaller power supply board or module that services the display itself. Plasma sets require a high voltage for operation and if it failed, it could cause the failure of the main supply from which it often receives its input DC. Since the plasma service voltage isn't always the same from one set to the next, can't give you specific levels to look for but it will be high enough to cause serious pain; use caution.

Cannot get my playstation 3

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe you need to reset it?? If your other tv can display high resolution than the newer one it might be blacking out. When the ps3 is on, hold down on the power button for a few seconds until it beeps. This should reset it and allow you to change your display to suit the new tv.

TV will not come on.

The problem of your tv is the power supply. Try to remove the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug it first. then observe or look for bulge up or leaky capacitor. The bulge up is that the top is not perfectly flat like the other capacitor and the leaky capacitor has a wet mark at the bottom of the capacitor. This capacitor produces a low and unfiltered dc output that causes your unit to malfuction try to replace this bad capacitor but observe the polarity, Or you can contact a service technician to do it for you and saves you from stress good day and best regards.

When I turn it on the green light flashes, and the

Hello,

I think this has to do with the screen inverter of your TV. The inverter most likely defective. It's dying gradually and will eventually go worse. It would get to a point when the screen will be black and you won't see any picture.

There are two inverters inside the TV. The inverters are responsible for bringing light and picture to the screen.

Most likely, you will have to replace the inverter(s) to get a good picture on your TV.

Let me know if you would like to do this yourself, or you would like to call a repairman if you have not done something like this in the past.

The inverter can be ordered online from sites like shopjimmy.com, etc.

Good luck.

I have a LG 50PC3D

Hello
The power supply regulator secion of your LG got damaged. Some copacitor has bulged and exploded. That is the 'pop' sound you heard from inside the TV. It may due to a line voltage surge, or overvoltage. This type of fault will occur to all brands of TVs and is common. Being a plasma TV, it is best to replace the power regulator board as card basis is best I advice, because, some amoung its components are very difficult to get from open market. Just open your TV, locate the power card, which can be easly located as AC mains power wire will go diretly to it. Take it out after detaching all the plugin connections from it. Just mark the colnnections on a piece of paper for reference, when you connect a new board to it. The power board will have a number printed on the component part as well as on print side. Note this number, buy a new one and set it to your TV. It is best rather than making 'surgery' to the defective board. OK>

The remote interface of the TV died on mine, it was intermittent then it stopped completely. Remote control is fine, it's the remote sensor in the TV itself.

HI, I have no picture

3 blinks indicate a failure in the power source.
You will need to test it, identify the failed output line (most likely it's the 3,3 v one) and replace the failed parts - most likely the rectifier.
Use this manual for a more precise troubleshooting

replacing the 10V caps with 25V caps is perfectly fine. In fact, if it was manufactured like that, those caps may not have blown.
Replacing a 680uF with a 1000uF could be problematic depending on it's function.
680uF is pretty specific when 500uF and 1000uF are much more common and therefore cheaper - one would think that the engineers would have tried using those in the design rather than a 680uF - makes me think the value of the cap is important to the frequency of the circuit it's in.
Other concerns might be whether he got any of them in backwards or not.
That's a rookie mistake, but still an easy enough one to make (for a rookie).
Also, with that many swollen caps, I wonder if there were any that leaked out the bottom before swelling at the top (IE - if some caps were missed in the replacement procedure)
Also, with that large a number of caps gone, other components may have been compromised or blown.
I'd be testing the transistors around those caps (most likely punched through rather than open), looking for fusible links (surface mount fuses, 0 OHM resistors) that may have opened up etc.
The initial attack on the problem was basically correct, and in many cases probably would have fixed it (if say the 680uF cap was functioning as a ripple filter).
But when that didn't fix it, a deeper analysis should have been done to complete the repair (including locating a 680uF cap).

Can I play Blu Ray

Hi there,

It's entirely possible to play Blu-ray discs on this TV, but whether it's possible in your case depends on the Blu-ray player itself. Many Blu-ray players can downscale the 1080p resolution to 720p (or lower) which is the resolution required for your TV, but this setting needs to be done on the player rather than the TV. Some players have "Auto HDMI" which will automatically downscale the video output to match the TV, but it can often be done manually on players which don't have this feature.

If you can let me know the brand and model number of your Blu-ray player, I can let you know whether it has this feature, and if so, how to configure it. I would be surprised if it doesn't have it.

Regards,
BElectric

My LG 50PC3D was manuf in June 2006. Just today

I would first check for swollen capacitors on the power supply board. This model has about 9 under rated capacitors that usually go bad. The original caps are 3300 uF rated at 10 Vdc., and they should be replaced with 3300 uF capacitors rated at 16 Volts DC, 105 degree types. A failure on this board could also affect the other boards in the set so correcting this problem may not remove the symptoms.

50 in lg plasma wont turn on just clicks

hi,
you have to check the power supply first.

As u mentioned about the click sound, the 5v standby supply is ok. The click sound you hear is from the standby relay.
you have to check the other power supplies in the SMPS (switch mode power supply board) board.
first of all check the standby supply 5v on tne pin of connector P800. check the voltage at this point in standby condition and at the time of power on. it should stay at 5v. if it reduces the you have to check the components related with standby SMPS transformer T501.

If the 5v volt is ok the u have to check the 3.4 v at the pin 1 and 2 of connector P802, at the time of power on. if it is missing then check the components related to T112 ,also check the following voltages at the same power on condition.

19v at Pin 1and 2 of P803
6v at the pin 5 and 6 of P802
12v at the pin 9and 10 of P802

check these to verify your tv's power supply
proper care should be taken while working with power supply, because there is risk of getting electric shock.
if you need any more assistance fell free to contact me through fixya.
I have with me its field service manual ( does not have any schematics) if u need that i will sent it to you, if u give me your email id through fixya.
ok
