Xerox Phaser 8560DN Laser Printer - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Xerox Phaser 8560 Waste INk
Although I agree totally, the anwer is no. Althought it appears black, take a piece of it an use it like a crayon. It is a combination of all the color inks combined. So if you take and rub it on a piece of paper it will be a purple color. So threfore would not create proper colors.
Now to save ink, Do not turn the printer off at all. Just let it use its own sleep mode. The power consumption is intermittent to keep the print head warm and uses about the same ammount of electricity as your refridgerator light bulb. The reason being, when you turn off a solid ink printer, it purges the print head of ALL old ink and dumps it into the waste tray. That is part of those weird noises you hear when you cycle up the machine, one is a compressor emptying the print head.
Also, honestly, althogh I am not sure what you are using the machine for. But you would be wise to put that product on a pay per page maintenance agreement. That includes all ink and all service. Some of the parts for those printers are super expensive.
I will say one thing you can do with that waste ink, if you know anyone who has children, they can use them as purple crayons..
Xerox Phaser 8560DN - WIFI Adapter
The Xerox solution works slick but you have to read the directions carefully. I've set these up on a variety of machines, including large Xerox multifunction machines. When configured properly, I was able to do everything including scanning just as if it were a hard-wired connection. However, there are other products on the market that will probably do the same job with easier configuration and lower price.
Cannot print from Word Perfect 11 or Quattro to Xerox Phaser 85
It is the print setting in WP. As I'm sure you know, Corel products like to take control of everything. If your document is configure to print to an HP printer, for example, it won't print to another printer unless you change it in the Print settings within the document.
Xerox Phaser 8560dn says it is out of Cyan ink, but it is not.
The inksticks are probably jammed in the slot. If you're using non-Xerox ink, an error reset is required. Since the non-Xerox ink sticks are not the right shape (since the shape is a registered trademark), they don't always trip the sensors when they come down the chute.
I have lost the display text on my 8560DN
If the printer turns on with no problem but display is the only problem I think you should just need a new control panel. Try a another one from a diffrent 8560 machine. you should know instanly. Good luck.

Sounds like you have a lot of great questions here. Sorry to hear about the woes with your printer, in my experience Xerox printers have a very hard time surviving moves of any distance.
Either way, it's past that point now, I will go on with the rest of your questions:
1) I am familiar with the routine you speak of where you could "goose" the voltage and it would essentially cook off any gunk gumming up the works. To my knowledge they have removed the ability to do that, if it exists none of us technicians are aware of it, maybe the actual engineers who made the machine know but they sure didn't make it public knowledge, it's definitely not the same as it was before if it exists.
2) You are unfortunately correct about the print head, it sounds like it is on it's way out, and as you are already aware it is very very expensive to fix the unit, better to get a new one, that way you have the full warranty and everything on the printer and bay just a tiny bit more than a repair to an older unit. Also, I would recommend you sell the unit you have (maybe on craigslist or ebay with local pickup). Someone will want it, if for nothing else than spare parts. That should help you at least recoup the difference between the new printer and the cost of just repairing.
3) The 8860DN is a significantly better model than the 8560 you currently have. Overall we have had very very few complaints or problems with the 8860 where I have seen more 8560's then I care to remember. On top of that it has a significantly lower output per page cost, so that should also help justify the move to the new model vs. repairing this one. Also, from what I've seen the print quality (especially of color prints) is much improved, overall you won't be disappointed.
4) I can't really think of anything, I'd stick with Xerox printers they are truly at the head of their class, and try not to move the new one! =)
Hope this helps!

Xerox 8560 DN. Had power outage then display lit but no text.
Under your printer settings on your PC - if you to to the properties you can view the ports - should give you the IP there , depending on how you have it setup..
some printers have a "Test" button next to the network card.. See if you have one there..

Light stripes
Sadly the print head probably failed. Thats not uncommon. Yeah, even at 7000 pages.
If it is just one color, the problem is a jet. If it were a blade or maintenance kit, the problem would be with all colors.
You have some blocked jets. If you have run eliminate light stripes 3 or 4 times and it hasnt cleared, chances are the print head would have to be replaced.
Error Number in Xerox 8560N: 07.010.43:16733
The printhead is stuck in the tilt position by the tilt arms. The process motor gearbox being out of sync can cause this error also. I've also seen the wiper assembly be stuck between the drum and printhead cause this.
Pls take a look if there is a piece of paper beside the printhead..
Xerox phaser 8560 prints blank pages
That's very weird, I have been thinking about your problem a lot.
What I am wondering is if somehow there is a piece of paper between the print head and drum, but that should be moved out of the way by the wiper blade assembly.
There is a compressor that creates the pressure to spray the ink onto the page. That could have failed, or one of the hoses disconnected.
The other thing is the print head itself. But if this was a sudden thing, it really isn't likely the print head jets failed all at once. That would be bizarre considering the amount of jets on that print head.
If there were an electrical problem with the print head, the machine would definitely give you a fault code, and if the print head was not going into the proper position you would no doubt get an 07,xxx.xxx code.
I have to conclude the compressor or a bad or somehow disconnected hose. The compressor is near the ( looking from the front) the right side , near the top rear of the machine, It is a black box and has a hose with a wire wrapping around it.

Diagnosing Print-Quality Problems
The Troubleshooting Print-Quality Page provides a good overview of the most
common print quality problems. To print the Troubleshooting Print-Quality Page,
follow these steps:
1. From the Control Panel, scroll to Troubleshooting, then press OK.
2. Scroll to Print Quality Problems, then press OK.
3. Scroll to Troubleshooting Print Quality Page, then press OK.
The Troubleshooting Print Quality Page includes instructions for printing the
Eliminate Light Stripes test print. These instructions are also provided on the next
page of this manual. The Eliminate Light Stripes test print indicates individual weak
or missing jets or an obstruction in the imaging path that affects a vertical band down
the entire page. Also, you may see color variation from jet to jet on the Eliminate
Light Stripes test print. Some variation is normal, occasionally occurs, and usually
self-corrects within a few printed pages. If a print-quality problem is not resolved

Print smears
Hi Allan:
Sounds like you need to replace the drum pivot plate assembly. This assembly is what cleans the drum assembly prior to putting the image on the drum. The pivot plate assembly has a rubber drum cleaning blade on it and when the printer begins to print a page it cleans the drum first. If the cleaning blade or the pivot plate are deffective then the drum will not be cleaned properly leaving smudgy areas on the drum.
"replace paper tray, not correct size for cartridge" shows up whe
A couple of things. Make sure you tell the machinne the size of paper, and also check to see that not only the size of the peper but the type of paper On the machine and the print driver match.
One of the most common issues with that message is that the machine will say Plain paper and the print driver says Bond or Recycled.
Now, if that is not the indication, what you want to do look on the right front side of the paper tray itself. There are small tabs, about 1/2 of an inch by less than a quarter inch. They insert into small holes in the tray. They often times break or just fall out on their own. You can just take a piece of tape, obviously not clear tape and cover the holes.
You could have a paper tray sensor that has fallen off. There are black actuators that hang down in the tray that actuate when the paper tray is inserted.
