No hdmi signal

I have the hitachi 42hds69 plasma set and it will not receive ANY signals through hdmi. I've tried hooking up a ps3 AND a Toshiba hd-dvd player using hdmi cables and all I get is "no sync signal". Any ideas as to what's wrong? Any help is appreciated. And there is nothing else hooked up to the set. All the inputs are free.

won't turn on

My tv is 1 year 3 months old. Its never been moved, touched, bumped or anything. Yesterday it suddenly went off. Now it won't go back on. The red standby light stays on, but nothing else. If I hold down the power button on the side for like 10 seconds, it clicks and sounds like it will start up, but nothing.... Then then blue "on" light comes on, but thats it. If I push power again, back to the red light. I tried unplugging it (overnight) and same thing. When I first turn the main power switch back on after unplugging it buzzes and sounds like its powering up for like 20 seconds, but nothing. I paid $1,800 for this TV and warranty expired 3 months ago... I'll be really choked if its dead. Any advice?

Hi, everyone. Me too have the same problem. TV just stays in red but won't turn to blue. I tried unplugging then wait and restart again, sometimes it will work but lately that trick doesn't work anymore. Then somebody suggested to open the back of the tv (it's not hard... just a lot of screws and a couple of bolts to remove) and clean (vacuum) the exhaust fan. Out of frustration, I did open the back and clean the the fan (has a lot of dust on the blades) and everywhere where there is dust. Just be careful not to touch any part of the printed circuit board with the vacuum nozzle to eliminate the destructive effect of static electricity. Or while you're cleaning it you have to hold the metal frame with your other hand to ground yourself (by the way you have to unplug your tv before you start opening the back). After the cleaning then covering the back, the tv worked... for only a few hours. It did stop working again as soon as I turned it off then on again. Again I opened the back, this time I removed the power supply board ( that's the biggest board and located above where you connect all your wirings). Got myselt a small brush and start brushing and vacuuming the dust out. I don't know if the cleaning did the trick or it was the unplugging of the connectors from the power supply board. All these work did the job... my tv is still working for almost three weeks now. Another thing, when you have a a time warner cable with a dvr box where you can program its remote to power most of your equipment in sequence by pressing the remote power button, I set it so that the tv will be powered up last considering that power can fluctuate everytime a unit starts up specially when they are all connected to the same power/surge protector... tv doesn't like it when the power fluctuates while it is still starting. Hope these helps.... (Hitachi 42HDS69)

Hitachi Plasma Model PD32-A3000/AVC-A3000

When I turn the TV on (from standby) the screen's green light is on and it goes from black to pale blue but the AVC green light doesn't light up (from standby red light) and there is no picture, but there is sound.
This has happened a couple of times before and it has been OK after I have left it turned off for a couple of hours but this time I can't get the picture - even after leaving it powered off overnight.
I have checked all cables etc and they are all OK - do you have any idea on why this is happening and how to fix it?

I think that you have dry solder joints on either the vertical scan board, the focus board, the line output stage, or the chroma panel. Hope this helps.

MY TV KEPT GETTING WORSE EACH DAY ALSO. BUY A CAN OF SPRAY AIR WITH THE EXTENSION SPRAY TUBE. WHEN YOU GET THE TV RUNNING SPRAY THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE BACK RIGHT ONTO THE FAN BLADES OF BOTH FANS. THE DUST WILL FLY OFF THE BLADES. A VACUMM HOSE WILL HELP PULL OUT THE DUST. ALSO SRAY THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD FOR DUST. I APPEARS THE FANS SLOW DOWN WITH DIRT ON THEM AND THE EXTRA HEAT BUILD UP JUST AFTER THE TV IS SHUT DOWN IS CAUSING THE POWER SUPPLY TO BE IN A SHUT DOWN MODE WHEN POWERED UP THE NEXT TIME. BEEN TWO WEEKS NOW AND WORKS PERFECTLY NOW AGAIN.

these particular tvs are very sensitive to voltage changes spikes etc.first turn off main power switch wait at least 30 sec if standby come on wait another 30 then turn off main power again and unplug tv for 1 min then plug in turn on main switch wait 30 sec then turn on tv with remote resets system.then buy a ups and always wait at least 30 min after turning tv off to turn back on if not causes power failure and after each press of power button wait 30 seconds before trying again lmk good luck

I have the same problem

I have the same problem with my Hitachi 42" that a lot of people mentioned, with the stand by light on but will not power on all the time. I took back cover off and did not find any can capacitors on the filter/power board where the A/C plugs into, but I did find a 3300uf 100v can with a bulging top on the, what looks like the main power supply board in the top center of unit. Do you know if this capacitor could be associated with problem? I see Ebay has them for about $5.00. Thanks

Hello
You have detected the fault I'm sure. A bulged capacitor means, unstabilised voltage to the main board and sub boards of the TV. This is picture of the main power supply regulator board board of your Hitachi 42HDS69.

gopakumarg43_29.jpg Check all the electrolytic capacitors in this board for any bulged condition. If found, replace them with same capacity and type. When replacing electrolytic capacitors, be sure to alaign its polarity. Teey have both (+ve) and (--ve) leg polarity, whill be marked on its body. Normally (--ve) leg side will be marked. Be sure to coincide this polarity, with the circuit board, when replacing them. It is a best practice to mark this polarity, on board with a marker pen, when you udesolder the capacitor out from it.

gopakumarg43_30.jpgHere I've included the picture of the power supply of an other brand set, to know you how a bulged capacitor look like. This is only for caparison. Bulged capacitors are maked with red arrow. If you need anymore assistance, feel free to get me by Fixya. OK.
