Trouble trying to connect my dvd player and set it
Hi there,
You will need to determine if your DVD player is HDMI or Scart. If you connect it via a scart lead, then it should automatically turn on when you power it up, if not it will be located on your tv under the appropriate source/input label, ie AV1/AV2, or SCART.
If you are using a HDMI lead, then you will have to turn it over yourself, as HDMI does not support switching control. To do this, locate the input button on your remote (sometimes labled source) and press it until you can select the correct HDMI input using either the directional buttons, or by repeatedly pressing the input button.
Hope this helps

Hello
Check the input connections first. Completely insert connection codes to the side panel jacks. If you do not, played back picture as well as selection will be abnormal.
Connect an external source to one of the INPUT terminals, and then press the INPUTS button to show the INPUT menu. Use the CURSOR PAD UP or DOWN to select the input of your choice. And then press the SELECT button or the CURSOR PAD RIGHT to confirm your choice.
Without any inpu signal, the input selection cannot be done. All the input chords must be conneted firmly and fully inserted to their respective sockets. OK
When you turn the power on it will click and then

My Hitachi has two cooling fans, but yet I have
Hello
It is not a normal situation, the fans should be worked because these are installed for colling, that is why the tv is producing heat, you should check this from any authorized/qualified technician to avoid future complication.
Hope it helps, if so do rate the solution
Red lite is on but
When you remove the back, you will find a couple of electrolytic caps on the power supply that needs replace, or you can just buy a new power supply, and that will take care of your problem.

There may be a manual at emanuals.com but they will charge for it!
When i turn it on
What about at the front of the TV... Is the stand by light on? It's the red light...
If the stand by light is on, then you can try removing the back cover and clean/vacuum especially the fan... disconnect the connectors to the main power supply ( it's the one on top and in the middle). Reconnect after a few minutes.
If the problem is not solved then you might have a faulty power supply board.
Good luck.
Note: Make sure that you unplugged the TV power cable first before you remove the cover. And also while you're vacuuming, you have to hold the metal frame to dissipate the static electricity created by the vacuum (motor).
Good luck.
TV does not power on. For the last several months
I have similar problem with my 42hds69. What I did is unplug the tv and remove the cover and vacuum everything especially the fan and remove the power supply board and brush/vacuum the back side... careful about static so hold the metal frame while you're vacuuming. Reassemble everything... mine worked... and still working... Good luck.
Turns on runs for a second cuts off flashes red
Your set could have three separate power supplies or they may be combined in a single unit.
One supply is on as soon as the AC cord is plugged in; this one must stay on so the set can respond to a signal from the remote.
Another supply (or section) services the majority of the circuits and may have several different voltages produced.
Finally, a third section or separate supply produces the high voltage for the plasma display.
The supply that is always on, evidenced by its response to your remote's 'power on' command, is OK.
The high voltage supply may derive its service voltage from the main supply which also supplies the bulk of the circuits and all of the outputs are likely monitored.
The main supply is often the culprit when it fails to start up. This kind of failure is quite common and attributable to the use of cheap capacitors (called 'electrolytic' capacitors) in power supply circuits that are handling higher frequencies that can cause breakdown of the chemicals used in them.
They tend to shrink in value and reach a point when their value is no longer high enough to perform as it is required to.
Unless you have some technical skills, I recommend you contact the Hitachi service center nearest you and request the potential cost of replacing the failed power supply board or having yours repaired.
If you really wish to delve into the guts of your set, comment back to this thread and I will guide you in some simple troubleshooting steps.
