Computer doesn't recognize songs
I've worked mine out.
When I put the songs on my MP3 I used Vista, I then changed to an XP install and this is when I couldn't see the songs on my MP3 player.
When I went back to my Vista install I could see and edit the songs.
Now I have cleaerd it I can go back to my XP install and use it as normal again.
Basically you need to use the same version of windows you put the songs on with to edit them.

My PC does not recognize my Sansa c240
I just purchased this model for my boyfriend, had a hell of a time trying to figure it out, but after doing numerous google searches, I figured out that you have to place the lock/unlock or "hold" on some models into the lock position, then hold down the rewind button DON'T LET GO UNTIL THE PC RECOGNIZES IT!! It should work. I downloaded all the firmware and stuff I could (not even sure what firmware is... lol... just did it cuz that's what I read to do). Once I did this, it picked it up within 60 secnods and now my PC recognizes it everytime I plug it in. I was up unitl 1am this morning trying to get the darn thing to be recognized... I hope this saves you some sleep! LOL
My sansa c240 won't completely charge from the puter ~
Your battery most likely isn't good any more. They're not designed to sit around for very long periods unused. The cheapest way to remedy this is probably to either get one from ebay with a broken screen and salvage the battery from it (the back cover just slides right off and you can pop the battery out) or right now buy.com has c240's for 12.99 w/free shipping (they're refurb units) and you can use the battery in either player and you'll also have a backup player.
I can't find my folders
Make sure that Windows Explorer is configured to display hidden and system files. Open the "My Computer" icon on the desktop; select menu "Tools: Folder Options..."; select the "view" tab; select the "Show hidden files and folders".
If that doesn't work, try formating the Sansa C240. Press the "Menu" button, scroll down and select "System Info", scroll down and select "Format".
It should erase the flash memory and create the required folders.
Sansa c240 won't show what songs are on the player
Turn on the mp3
go to settings
go to system settings
then go to USB MODE
try first setting "AUTO DETETECT"
IF THAT DOES NOT WORK TRY MTP
AND THEN MSC
ONE OF THOSE SETTINGS WILL WORK..
WHAT WINDOS OPERATING SYS ARE YOU USING?
I have sansa c240 mp3
If you have windows 98, you probably have older than windows media player 10. You need windows media player 10 or newer, as it says on the package in the fine print. I had windows media layer 9, and I had to use my sister's computer to work with my player. I know its frustrating!!!
