Refrigerator is warm
The first thing you want to do is open the freezer and see if the fan inside there is running. The reason is the freezer cools the refrigerator side by circulating air from the freezer. If the fan is running then your problem is one or more parts of the defrost system is malfunctioned and in return your problem arises. There are three parts to the system, the defrost timer or in some cases control board, defrost thermostat also known as a bi-metal, and the defrost heater. The defrost system is set up to operate as so. The defrost timer or control board will turn the machine off, in some cases every 8 hours, some 12. During this time period the defrost heaters, located behind the freezer wall and rest underneath the evaporator, yet wires to them run up the side of it, are energized and emit heat that raises upward to melt the ice that has formed on the evaporator coils. The bi-metal or defrost thermostat is at the top of the evaporator. When the heat from the heater starts to reach the bi-metal, it breaks the circuit turning the heater off. The whole purpose of this is because the freezer cool the refridgerator side by drawing air across the coils and blowing to the other side via the evap fan motor. In my opinion, if you change one part of the defrost system change them all because usually when one part fails another will follow, so save yourself the time and the food loss, the cost difference is minute. I have an Amana refrigerator model # ARB2217CSR with the freezer on the bottom its filling the the freezer with water and leaking on the floor even with the ice maker water supply off can someone help
If the water is showing on the freezer side, more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt. If thats not an option that you want to use the actual repair method would be to 1) unplug the machine 2) empty everything out of the freezer so you'll have room to work 3) take all the shelving and baskets out 4) locate the screws on the rear wall inside the freezer and remove them 5) take the back panel off exposing the evaporator coils ( the aluminum ) 6) directly below the coils is a trough of sorts and the drain is usually in the middle and runs out the bottom, remove the ice by carefully chipping it out or by using a hair dryer or hot water. 7) once all the ice is gone, the drain is visible and water can flow smnoothly down the drain dry the area and reassemble. The fridge is at 64 degrees and the freezer is working well. Coils are clean.
In most fridges, the cooling coils are in the freezer section. The other section is cooled by air flowing from the freezer section. There should be a valve/vent/knob that allows more or less air to flow from the freezer. Adjust this to maximum cold to see it the temp changes. Or is 64 degrees too cold for you?
Frost buildup
you need to check the defrost circuit and make sure the heater is working and the unit goes into the defrost mode.
also check and make sure the temp sensor is good
Found ice accumulation in top/roof area Amana bottom freezer/frig
Ice or moisture on the inside especially near the door indicates that air is coming into the box. It would most likely be from the door not being closed all the way last time you entered it, there may have been a package or something caught in the door seal to allow a small amount of air and that air condensates inside. I would guess that the unit went into an automatic defrost cycle, let it be for about an hour and return to see if it is running again. My guess is it will be back to normal, but let me know either way
