Question for My LCD TV problem.

Usually this problem is associated with the LCD Screen. The screen is made up of many layers in a matrix form. If there is any separation, no mater how slight ....it will cause the mastic in the screen to break connections. This can be caused by manufacture defects...which is hard to prove. Common causes is someone unaware what happened pushed the center of the screen causing it to flex a minute amount there by breaking the mastic or matrix if you prefer.......replaced screen and corrected problem. That is the most common cause, however as with any problem; other issues can cause the same effect.

The cable (data) comming off the logic board to the screen can have a loose or dirty connection; there by giving the appearance of a broken mastic. In which case unplugging and replugging the cable in and out several times should clear this up.

Last but not least is the logic board. There is no need to try and repair this. Replacement is the way to go. Why most of the logic and data chips have so many connections that special equipment is need to facilitate repairing the board.

Hope This help.

A maroon line running from

Hello; The width of the line means everything. If the line is razor thin, meaning one pixel wide, this is is very likely a bad LCD panel ( costs more than the TV sold for ). If the line is much wider say 1/2" give or take, the problem is the LCD controller or LCD timing ( same thing ) PCB. Much more less expensive! John

HDMI Closed-Captioning won't go away

I bought this television yesterday, bought the HDMI cord and hooked it up through my Comcast digital cable box. Every channel would display closed captioning, despite it's supposed inability to support that function. In order to remove it, we had to turn off the cable box's ability to display closed captioning. To do that, turn off the cable box and hit menu to get to the setup menu. It is there that you will be able to turn off closed-captioning.

Is it possible to cast/mirror/ etc. from ab android phone to a Sylvania TV manufactured in 2005?

No, because screen casting wasn't invented and it isn't a Smart television. Time for a new one.

I have an old Sylvania tv and it won't turn on

Here are some troubleshooting tips to try. However, as it is an older set, if these tips fail, the cost of a repair at a shop might exceed the value of the TV. In short, a new TV may be in the works. Cross your fingers. One of these tips may work. Let's troubleshoot the issue and try to get it working: If you are using a remote, check the batteries in it. If you are using several remotes with it, try the alternative remote. Sometimes there is a glitch affecting the remote for a Roku where it won't turn on the TV other than a powered black screen and you have to use the other remote to turn it off and back on and then the Roku screen pops up. I have not sorted out why. Check Power Cord and Connections: First, ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the electrical outlet. If you suspect a faulty power cord, consider trying a different one. Reset the TV: While most Sylvania TVs don't have a dedicated reset button, you can perform a manual reset: Unplug the TV's AC adapter from the electrical socket. Press and hold the Power button on the TV for 20 seconds. Plug the AC adapter back in and turn on the TV. Check Audio/Video Cables: Inspect the audio/video cables connecting your TV to the satellite or cable receiver. Ensure that the color-coded prongs match their respective connecting points. Correct any mismatches (e.g., white cable into a red port) by reorganizing the prongs. Inspect Coaxial Cable: Look for the coaxial cable on the rear side of the receiver, attached to the port labeled as ANT IN. Confirm that the connection is firm; a loose coaxial connection can cause display issues. Tighten the cable by pinching the silver band on the end and rotating it clockwise until secure. Check for Interference: If distortion continues on the TV screen, consider nearby interference. Power-hungry appliances can cause electronic interference, affecting display quality. Visit a Repair Shop: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may need professional help. Some technical faults, such as a blown fuse or faulty capacitor, require expertise in dismantling and soldering. If uncomfortable with such tasks, consider visiting a repair shop
