First of all I want to apologize for how long it has taken to get a response. Hopefully I can help you out here. I don't know if other experts have tried, (we can't see their responses), but if they have, and you've done everything I'm about to mention, proceed directly to the part of this solution labeled with a horizontal line, like so:
-------------------------------------------
You can find the documentation here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00739568.pdf
According to what I'm reading on it, this error can happen when you use
the wrong paper type. If you view page 37 of the document I linked to,
you get the printer alignment instructions.
- Load plain white letter paper or A4 into the main tray
- Select SETTINGS, the press OK
- Select TOOLS, then press OK
- Scroll to find ALIGN PRINTER, press OK
- Press OK to exit
Also, you should try cleaning the print head.
- Using plain white letter paper (not as important this time), select SETTINGS then press OK
- Select TOOLS then press OK
- Select CLEAN PRINTHEAD then press OK
Some more advice I could give: Be sure you're using the right side of
the paper, a paper recommended by HP (You can find paper for your
printer at hpshopping.com in the US, other countries are on page 13 of
the documentation), make sure your ink cartridges aren't low
(Settings>Tools>Display Ink Gauge), make sure you're using a high
resolution and a large picture size, or a low resolution and a small
picture size. Also try removing and reseating each ink cartridge, just
to be sure they're all properly seated.
-------------------------------------------
If you've already tried all this before and/or nothing works from what I've suggested or what other experts have suggested, the
problem could be a little worse. According to the documentation, if the
error message comes up again and you're already using the correct type
of paper, you could have a defective ink cartridge, or a defective
sensor. I would try replacing the ink cartridge, because those are
(reletively) cheap compared to sending it for service. If nothing else
works, it would have to be repaired.
