Freezer back panel ice up,

What you probably didn't notice was that the freezer has not been going through it's normal defrost cycle. Because of this un-noticed event going on, there has been frost building up on the evaporator coils that doesn't belong there. After this frost continues to build up over the course of a few days to a week or so, now you are going to start to notice the effects.

Here is what's happening when you have a malfunction in the defrost system.
  • Air cannot circulate from the freezer(where the cold happens basically) to the fresh food section.
  • Your refrigerator will run constantly to try to cool the fresh food section. This will develop a new set of problems with your refrigerator. More on that later....
  • Excess frost builds up within the coils inside the freezer. This is what is blocking the air flow to the fresh food section
  • Usually you will notice the icemaker will stop making ice. Poor air flow and not quite cold enough temperatures in the freezer cause this
  • Water will not come through the dispenser on the door. Cold air settles, the water resovoir will freeze.
  • Compressor may overheat and shut off. This is when you hear, click, click, click. Not good
  • Ice Cream in the Freezer will start to get soft. That's really not that bad. lol
What can you do about this. Let me explain the defrost system in general so you get an understanding of what is going on.
The coils inside the freezer are the only part inside the whole refrigerator that "get cold". They need to stay free from excess frost build up so that air can pass through the coils and reach the refrigerator section of your refrigerator. Every eight hours or so, depending on the type of defrost timer or control you have, the compressor and fans will shut off and the machine will go into defrost mode When the refrigerator is in defrost there is a heater that is tied into the evaporator coils inside the freezer that comes on. This heater is behind the rear panel inside the freezer where the evaporator coils are located. It melts the frost that has accumulated over the course of time. After about thirty minutes the machine comes out of defrost and goes back to normal operation.
Now the air can continue to pass through the coils and keep the freezer frozen and the refrigerator cool and everybody is happy.you need to do a continuity test on the defrost thermostat this is the one piece that i find mainly is the reason out of most of the repairs on fridgerators that i do also while testing defrost thermostat also test the defrost heater and assure that the fan is working as well lastly you would replace the defrost timer if all else checked out in proper working order if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped Thanks again Rick p.s to access the defrost cycle parts you have to remove the rear panel in your freezer

The freezer is working but

Hello,

The refrigerator gets its cold air from the freezer, usually through a flap between the two sides. First make sure your temperature control has not been turned down in your refrigerator. You might have to defrost your freezer to get the flap working again, which could mean something in the defrost circuit is bad.

Also note that
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

Hope this works and Good luck in fixing....

GAS LEAK

Repair is cost prohibitive, time to get a new refrig. Look into the energy star rebates available in your state. Most states are running, or will soon be running, the state energy star rebate programs similar to the Cash For Clunkers car rebates. Each state sets up their own program, and when the funds are gone, you are out of luck. In my state, the program starts March 1, 2010 with a $100 rebate, or $200 rebate with certified "demanufactuer of old refrig" (recycling by a proper recyler)

Freezer not freezing

Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears. It could be the defrost thermostat or the defrost termination thermostat or the defrost heater.

ARS2665AC - Every 3 minutes noise

Unless this is somthing to with the ice maker, it is likely to be the refrigeration pump cycling on and off. It is possible that the pump is being stalled upon start up. Another possibility is that the pump vibrates more as the pressure is being built up and perhaps one of the rubber mountings has worn or perished. As long as the fridge is still working properly as you say then this should not be a cause for concern unless it becomes annoying. Regards

Amana ARB1917CSR 18.5 Cu. Ft. Plus Refrigerator. What is the HP of my compressor, which Supco relay and run capacitor?

What tends to happen is that service techs have certain common generic parts in their van, and rather than ordering a part to fit and have a return visit, they fit what they have. Parts seem to be readily available. The compressor is listed but no HP Specs. The bottom show another model and that R134A (1/4HP) is different to R134 (1/5 HP). https://www.google.com/search?q=amana+arb1917csr+parts+diagram https://www.google.com/search?q=Tecumseh+TP122AR003B8 ..

Possible cause of Amana refrigerator making a constant clicking/noise?

Sharla, It could possibly be the ice maker rod that tells the ice maker whether it's full or not. If it's in the down position it wants to make ice and it'll make a clicking noise. Lift the rod up if it's down. Hopefully this helps!? Best to you.

Afd2535des not cooling in any department, when I opened the doors, the lights work and the led temp control lights up. I hear a fan start and 5 seconds later the fan stops n leds shut off.

  1. Check the thermostat: Make sure the thermostat is set to a temperature that is low enough to cool the refrigerator. If the thermostat is not working properly, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Check the condenser coils: The condenser coils on the back of the refrigerator should be clean and free of dust and debris. If the coils are dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Use a vacuum cleaner or a brush to clean the coils.
  3. Check the fan motor: If the fan motor is not running, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Check if the fan motor is receiving power and if it's spinning freely. If the fan motor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  4. Check the start relay: The start relay helps the compressor start up. If the start relay is faulty, the compressor may not start and the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. If the start relay is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
  5. Check the compressor: If the compressor is not working, the refrigerator will not be able to cool properly. Check if the compressor is receiving power and if it's running. If the compressor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.

No power to Amana ice and water dispenser. Rest of refer runs fine.

It's possible that the issue could be with a micro switch located on the ice maker cabinet that is activated when the prong on the back of the ice/auger tray is inserted. It's also possible that there could be another issue with the dispenser, such as a problem with the wiring or a malfunctioning component. I would recommend checking the wiring and testing any other micro switches or components that are related to the dispenser to see if they are functioning properly. If you are unsure how to do this, I would recommend consulting the user manual or contacting a qualified technician for further assistance.
