Take the battery off, and to the left of the battery connetion tabs is a small gold button, push and hold for 10 seconds. It should start up after doing this.

When exploring the player in My Computer on the PC, before disconnecting always
go through the icon "safely remove hardware'' in the right corner on the computer's screen below.

For transfers Window Media Player 11 can be used.

just attached the usb cable to mp3 player and put in2 computer to charge for couple of hrs

Is the battery dead when you connected it? When you connect the MP3 player on the USB port, do you get any light signals etc? Try moving it into another USB port.

Hi,when this happens,please plug USB charger and run the Archos..if it runs immediately the HD and system is okay but the battery should be the faulty element.So just replace the battery.That was the case for my Archos 604 and than after battery replacement it was corrected.

As far as getting them on the player itself... Once plugged into your PC via USB cable - it is a matter of either using the software included with your MP3 unit, or Opening My Computer... and it will show up as a removeable drive.

Simply drag the songs you want from your music folder onto the removeable drive.

Another option is to right click on the song, and SEND TO removeable drive.

Thanks for using FixYa. Try and reset your archos 704 by pressing the power ON/OFF button for more than 15 seconds. You can also use the master reset function by removing the battery & then press the master reset button.


Note: Resetting your Archos will not erase any data from your device.

Also try Recovery mode-- Press the button to turn on your device. Immediately press and hold the until the Recovery mode screen appears.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Your problem sounds like it is caused by static electricity. Are you on carpet when using the AV500? It is prone to locking up when exposed to ESD, the manual mentions this. The best thing to avoid this, as you seem to have already discovered, is to use the remote.

You should also unplug the AV500 before attempting to reset. Attempting to reset whilst the AV500 is still connected to the mains seems to cause loss of data. This happened to me, my entire hard drive was wiped.

you could try upgrading the firmware to see if that does anything.

First thing to do is go here. Click on Portable DVR under Select a Product Line. Now select AV500 under Select a Device. Now download the "Download AV 500 serie OS 1.3.11" You might want to look in your instruction manual to see how to update the firmware if you don't know how to do it.

The best way to set it up is calling Orange and following step by step guidance.

You can try doing this steps in solving the problem...

1. connect the archos to the PC
2. click on repair
3. click on done and wait for a few seconds and you will see the archos as a drive in your windows
4. once you see the drive, open it and make sure the System folder is empty, if not delete the file that exists there.
5. put the firmware update file directly on the root drive
6. click repair again on the archos and done.

what do you mean?? it will not shpw the movie you want it to shown??? i can convert it to comatible video formatting,,

Try the archos on another computer, see what happens does it work there? Is it saying connect device on the screen of the archos? can it be used? any other complaints - does the unit complain? errors? error code?

The answer to that, only the manufacturer can give you. Try to call them and explain the situation

I left the player on for about 24 hours to allow the battery to completely run down. I then connected it to my computer and it took the charge and is working fine now.

sounds like the battery has been allowed to discharge totally this is not good for certain types of battery despite what some people may think.. some modern bateries require at least a residual charge to keep it healthy enough to receive a whole charge

Try to reset the MP3 by holding the power button down for 15 seconds and it will turn off and reset;
