I've only had the camera a few months and am having the same problem.

When connected, you want the camera in picture review mode. Turn on the camera while connected, and press the upper left button on the back of your camera once.

I ordered the gears, but unfortunately, they didn't fit. Sorry, I should have posted an update. I'll see if I have any spare from the cameras that I've repaired. I do know that I have spares for a530/a540, but not sure about a550/a560 cameras.

Sounds like you accidentally pressed the DISP button on the back (it manually turns the LCD screen on and off to save batteries). Turn the camera on and press the DISP button once. Hopefully that should fix it.

You have raised a valid point if the camera has a reading problem then it would have problems reading all cards But it read the original OK? I think this is best addressed to Canon Support it seems that there is a problem that may only be resolved by them perhaps exchanging the camera for another

Did you try setting the slide switch on the side of the memory card? And if that doesn't work, did you try a different memory card?

Recommend contacting Canon support as soon as possible. If you've only had it since Christmas, it's still under warranty, and Canon should fix this for you for free. Here's the link to your warranty:

If you can see 'shadow' images then this suggests the backlight has blown
If nothing at shows up then it is a circuit problem
Neither make economic sense repair wise.
Live with it or replace it.

Reformat the card in the camera then try Also use the menu system with help from the manual to establish the file size/ file type The higher the resolution the few the images able to be stored/ RAW and Tiff give but few SHQ give more HQ give even more but each with declining quality. Which is only 2 month old Card or Camera or Both? Either way having tried the alternatives if still in trouble return the 2 month old item for replacement.

The card may be corrupted and unusable. Try with a new SD Card. If that doesn't work, you need Canon Service. Try formatting it in the computer, add images and see if you can see the images in the camera.

If the batteries are the same age as the camera, they are probably worn out. Try replacing them.
