I have the same problem, and it also started occurring after I upgraded to Leopard. Can't offer you a solution yet aside from waiting for a patch of some sort from either HP or Apple. I'd check their websites and e-mail their tech support people.
I have an hp c4240
Forget the scanning software form HP. This solution below works! At least untill HP do something to solve this.
Windows Vista offers a built-in feature, named Windows Photo Gallery, that allows for scanning without using any imaging software. Follow these steps to scan with Windows Photo Gallery.
-
Make sure that the product is on and that the USB cable is connected correctly.
-
On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , and then click Windows Photo Gallery .
-
In the Windows Photo Gallery screen, click File and then click Import from Scanner or Camera .
-
Look for an icon that represents the product.
-
If no icon appears on the screen, go to Solution five: Fully uninstall and reinstall the HP software.
-
If the icon does appear, click the icon and then click Import .
-
Make any necessary changes to the settings on the Import screen and then click Preview .
-
If the preview of the scan looks correct, click Scan . The scanned image imports into Windows Photo Gallery.
-
If the scan was successful, use the Windows Photo Gallery wizard to scan instead of using the HP software. To use the HP software, continue to the next solution to continue troubleshooting. However, it is not necessary to do so.
