Each time i turn on my computer my printer re-installs

Step one: Uninstall the software
Even if the HP software did not install successfully, there might be elements of the software installed on your computer. Use your product software CD to remove the HP software. If you no longer have the product software CD, skip to Method two: Uninstall the software without the product software CD .
Method one: Uninstall the software with the product software CD

1.
Insert the product software CD into the computer's CD drive.
2.
If the Welcome to HP screen opens, click Cancel or Exit .
3.
On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click My Computer , right-click the CD drive, and then click Open .
NOTE: If you double-click the file, the HP Installer launches. Click Exit , and then right-click the file to open.
4.
Double-click the Util folder, and then double-click the ccc folder. A list of files on the software CD displays.
5.
Double-click the Uninstall_L2.bat file. The Run window opens again, with the path to the Uninstall_L2.bat file displayed.
6.
Click OK to start the software removal, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Method two: Uninstall the software without the product software CD
If you do not have the product software CD, you can download the software from the HP Web site, and then use the downloaded file to perform the uninstall procedure.

1.
Open a new window to browse to the Select Software and Drivers page:
1.
Right-click this link, Support and Drivers download page , and then select Open Link in New Window .
2.
If prompted, type your product number. You might also need to click it in a list of similar products.
3.
Select your operating system. The Select Software and Drivers page opens.
2.
In the Driver section, click the Full Feature Software and Drivers option.
3.
Click Download only . This option allows you to install the software at any time after the download completes.
4.
The File Download - Security Warning window opens. Click Save , and then browse to the location on your computer where you want to save the file. Consider saving the file to your desktop for easy reference later in these steps.
5.
Click Save . The software downloads to your computer.
6.
When the file downloads, double-click the icon for the downloaded file.
7.
When the installation screen launches, click Exit .
8.
On the Windows taskbar, click Start , and then click Search .
9.
Under What do you want to search for? , click All files and folders .
10.
Type Uninstall_L2 in the first search box, and then click Search .
11.
Double-click the Uninstall_L2.bat file. If there is more than one file in the search results, expand the In Folder column, and look for the file that is located in the Temp folder with 7zXXX.tmp in the filename (XXX varies by driver version). The HP uninstaller opens.
NOTE: If the Welcome to HP screen opens, click Cancel or Exit
12.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software removal.

Step two: Delete all temporary files

1.
Click Start , and then click Run .
2.
In the Open box, type %temp% , and then click OK . The Temp folder opens, displaying the Temp files.
3.
Click Edit , click Select All , and then press the Delete key to delete the files.
NOTE: Do not highlight or delete the Temp folder. Delete only the files in the folder. If an Access Denied message displays on the screen during the delete process, click OK to close the error message and then continue deleting the remaining files.

Step three: Temporarily turn off startup programs
Follow these steps to turn off the Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs running in the background on the operating system. These programs activate computer utilities like antivirus software, but are not required for the computer to function. Occasionally, TSRs prevent the product software from installing correctly. In Windows XP, the MSCONFIG utility prevents TSR programs and services from starting.

1.
Click Start , and then click Run . In the Open dialog box, type msconfig , and then click OK .
2.
Click the General tab.
NOTE: Make a note of the settings in the General tab now. You will need this information to return the settings to the original configuration.
3.
Click Selective Startup .
4.
If there is a check mark next to Load Startup Items , click to clear it.
5.
Click the Services tab, and then select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
6.
Click Disable All to clear all the check boxes on the list.
7.
Click Apply , and then click Close .
NOTE: If an 'Access is denied ' error message displays on the computer when you make changes, click OK , and then continue. The message does not prevent you from making changes.
8.
Click Restart to apply the changes.

Step four: Reinstall the software
Use one of the following methods to reinstall the software.
Method one: Install the software with the product software CD
If you have the product software CD, follow these steps to reinstall the software. If you downloaded the software, skip to Method two: Reinstall the downloaded software .

1.
Insert the product software CD into the computer’s CD drive. The software installer starts automatically. If the Install Wizard does not start automatically, click Start , click My Computer , and then double-click the CD drive.
2.
On the CD menu, click Install Printer Driver .
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software installation, and then proceed to the next step.

Method two: Reinstall the downloaded software

1.
Browse to the folder where you saved the downloaded file, and then click it. The file name ends in .exe .
2.
You can accept the default location to save the files. Click Next , and then wait while the installer extracts the files to prepare for installation.
3.
When the installation screen opens, click Install .
4.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, and then proceed to the next step.

Step five: Re-enable startup programs

1.
On the taskbar, click Start , and then click Run .
2.
In the Open dialog box, type msconfig , and then click OK . The System Configuration Utility window opens.
3.
Click the Startup tab.
4.
Select the check box next to programs that should run when the computer is turned on (refer to the notes that you took earlier in this document).
CAUTION: Do not disable any Microsoft services.
5.
If no changes should be made to startup programs or services, click the General tab, and then select the Normal Startup check box.
6.
Click Apply , click OK , and then click Exit without restart .

Step six: Install the HP software update

1.
Right-click this link, HP Critical Update , and then select Open Link in New Window .
2.
Thoroughly review the information on the download information page, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the software.
3.
Restart the computer and the product.

Cartridge missing or not dected

did u changed / replaced the cartridge with original spare or refilled it??
do not panic..this kind of problem often follows with (esp. an unbranded) cartridge change and or refilling..!!
it also can be the defective cartridge itself causing such problem..!!
well if u r a professional then just dip a cotton into isopropyl alcohol n gently rub the connector sensor/ contact surface, n reinsert it properly, gently rub on the head too n make sure ink is coming/flowing, make sure the toner is not jammed or dried up, also have a glance on the 'carriage' n see that no sensor pins are broken and or bend..!!
..if u r not an professional, make sure it is properly inserted and the ink-spill protective/head covering is removed....
if all the above fails, then it may b a defective or demo cartridge..!!
and call ur system admin....

I can't find where on my printer I install my cartridges.

With the printer powered on, open the front door, above the paper tray.
The ink-cartridges should slide to the middle, and expose themselves,
for easy extraction.

Cartridges 74 and 75 are in place. Message says they are missing

take out the cartridges form the printer and then check if there is any pink pull tap attached at the back of the cartridges or not. if any remove them and try. otherwise clean the contact points on the back of the cartridges with a clean piece of cloth and then unplug the power cable from the back of the printer and press and hold down the cancel and color copy button from the front panel of the printer and while pressing them down plug the power cable back into the printer.
then insert the cartridges one by one and check.

Carriage jam

Is it tasty? never had that type of jam!

If the ink carrier jambs then wipe the rails with a damp cloth to remove built up ink. Make sure power is off when you do this. Return power to the unit and ensure all cartridges are seated correctly. As you turn on the power the cartridge carrier unlocks and begins to move. quickly turn the power off at wall switch, and manually move the carriage to the left so you can clean the rails where the carriage rests. Then gently return the carriage to its resting spot and turn the power back on. This should now work correctly. Keep the rails clean and it shouldn't happen again. If this did not fix it it will need to be sent back to a repair shop
