Try updating the operating system software.

• Download and install, to your computer, the latest version of WEBUPDATER from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27
• Connect your satnav to your computer and run the webupdater program.
  
• It will find any updates to the satnav operating system. Select all and install them.
• When the updates are installed webupdater will find optional updates. You don't need to install these unless you want to.
  

When they are downloaded safely disconnect your satnav and re-start it. This may solve your problem.

The software may be out of date. To update your software you need to download and install, on your computer, the latest version of WEBUPDATER from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27

Next connect your satnav to your computer and run the WEBUPDATER program. It will find updates. Select all and they will be installed. Afterwards it will find optional updates. You don't need to install these unless you wish to.

I hope this solves your problem.

Also the USA version of most of the garmin satnavs do not work in Europe and the European versions do not work in the USA

You have a problem with the headphone jack. Please see this link and read the section about BROKEN HEADPHONE JACK

Because there is a broken connection, your Nuvi thinks there are headphones connected at all times, so you wont be allowed to change the sound options. I've repaired this problem many times. Don't try it yourself, you risk damaging your Nuvi beyond repair.

To upgrade and/or update your Garmin GPS, do the following:

• To update your Garmin device, go to this link https://my.garmin.com/maps/chooseDeviceType.htm?
• Select your device type.
• It will request to install the Gamin Communicator Plug-in.
• Make sure that you connect your Garmin device to the computer before proceeding to install.
• After the installation, it will automatically download for an updated map.

Note: Sometimes, there are no available updated maps. On the process of updating, you will be able to know if you are entitled to a free update or you have to pay.

Sometimes I have made a waypoint or stop on the route that I want to go on, then the unit rethinks it's roads.

Most likely the backlight has failed. The backlight will need to be replaced.

The reason it is stcuk is because your touchscreen has failed and you cant press OK. Try tapping the power button. You should be able to toggle the screen to the volume screen.

The touchscreen is critical in using the Nuvi 660 - without there's no way to diagnose the problem from the outside. USB communication can still work, making software updates possible as far as it goes.

If it's not under warranty - opening the Nuvi 660 is a path to consider. Preferably by someone who's experienced with opening Garmin devices or (smart) phones. The Nuvi backcover is fitted with Hex / Torque screws - and is relatively easy to open with the right tools.

First area to look for is the flat cable connector of the touchscreen - reinserting the flatcable in the Printed Circuit Board connector. Be sure to disconnect the battery first. After reinserting the cable - connect the battery and try again if the touchscreen now works.

If the problem remains - clean the unit with pressured air - possibly removing contamination/dust causing (capacitive) shorts.

Assuming there is power at the cigarette lighter jack - turn the Nuvi off - then connect the charger. It should display charging battery or charging complete.
If nothing - does it charge with the wall charger? If so check the fuse in the car charger - it's usually in the tip of the charger which can be turned to get the fuse out.
