I am trying to login as admin, to be able to change the default password and secure the signal, but the default username does not let me log in. I'm using 192.168.0.1, login-admin, password-(blank). How can I login as admin? Thank you
I was ready to give it up and pitch the thing, but I found this on another board and it worked:
login - admin
password - password (not blank)

Hi!
I just got my self a TP-Link TL-WR541G wireless router. I have setup everything. I am connecting a Lap top to the router wirelessly and trying to do a VPN connection using Cisco VPN client Software. It will not connect at all. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Shan
You'll want to enable the VPN transparency. In the router's administrative web interface, click the Security Tab, then the VPN Passthrough sub-tab. Cisco VPN's usually use IPSEC, so enable the IPSEC Pass-through and click "Save Settings". If this doesn't work enable the PPTP Pass-through as well and give that a shot.

When i type the link (http://192.168.0.1/) into my browser i am prompt with a box asking for a username and password. I was told to use 'admin' as the username and leave the password field blank, so i did. The box just re-appears asking for the username asnd password again. i've tried all sorts of ways and it will not work... am i doing anything wrong? i just want to access my router and the page just will not load!!! Plz help!!!
It only means that its not the password that it's using right now. do you remember running the setup cd that came with your router? If you did, do you remember putting a password? that is the password that you need to put in.
Hope this one helps. Just reply to this post in case you will still have a problem.

I have some equipment which is not wireless placed far from my router. I have a spare DI-624 and want to use this as a bridge between wireless and wired communication. Is this possible? How do i set this up?
I don't think it can. An inexpensive wireless access point will work as a bridge. I use the TP Link brand with detachable antenna.

Using the terms using the dlink router as bridge you get results of people who claim it can't be done because of firmware. The same question on the D-Link help site mentions DL to DL bridges, but not with the 624.

cannot get xbox live to connect. we have a d1624. If we by pass the router and go from the modum to the xbox it works fine. there are two other computers connected to the router but they work. The xbox got a red ring around it about three weeks ago and we sent it for repair they sent us a different xbox that was refurbished and now it won't connect through the router which we had no problem before this happened. please help.
Check the configuration that you have set on the port opening of your router. Check the IP address that you assigned to the port and should much with the IP that you have for your xbox.

I need to update my router settings and can't remember my user name and password to the router. Any way that I can reset them?
You will need to reset the router. On the back of the router hold down the reset button for 30 seconds release the button and then wait for the power light to stop blinking. If it doesnt stop blinking within 1 minute unplug and wait 30 seconds plug back in and the router will be reset

Status and WLAN lights only blink
DI-624 is a bit old and mine has failed from overheating on occasion. Check that it is not in direct sunlight. If it is hot to the touch, see if it works after cooling off a bit. I had a client who had no problems for five months, until spring. One day his wifi crapped out every time the sun came out and it took me forever to figure that one out.

i cant open www.192.168.0.1
You need to configure your router with below method. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. Then set WAN settings as internet service provider settings enable DHCP. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
