Cisco vpn will not work with verizon service now after we got a new modem through verizon
Verizon Home DSL service uses a special filter that prevents ALL incomming connection including web, email and VPN hosting from a home connection. Business internet does not limit this, and I don't believe FIOS blocks it. If you have verizon home, there's nothing you can do. If you're just trying to connect to a home machine, you can try something like gotomypc, or a free alternative like
teamviewer.com or
logmein.com.
If you don't have verizon home dsl, comment back with what service you do have, and we can try some other things.

Changed from DSL, to cable no router connection
1. You need to make sure that you have a "straight through" cable and not a "crossover".
2. the yellow cable that your cable company provided is the cable that goes from the rj45 wall connector to the "WLAN" connector in the back of the router.
If you go to router manufacturers site you will find the instruction how to to connect your router to the cable modem.
3. check also the firmware updates for your router at this site and download.
4.Use your setup disk and follow the instruction set for cable also. This should walk you through the proper setup .

You can go to D-Link's site and download the PDF instruction also.

DI-624 is a bit old and mine has failed from overheating on occasion. Check that it is not in direct sunlight. If it is hot to the touch, see if it works after cooling off a bit. I had a client who had no problems for five months, until spring. One day his wifi crapped out every time the sun came out and it took me forever to figure that one out.
