D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G710 Wireless Range Extender - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I cannt connect
Did you power on the device? Is it properly connected? To what is it connected? Are you connecting it wireless or locally? The best option would be to download the manual and then go trough a troubleshooter, since from here and with such little info I can not help you... Check out YU
NO PDF for manuals ;)
Configuring DAP-1150
address to access d-link DAP-1150
http://192.168.0.50
you have to make sure that your ip address is around 192.168.0.xx
I have written (admin) in
Hi There
If you have not changed teh username and password, the username should be : admin and the password should be admin or just left blank.
If the username and passhave been changed, you can reset your router to the original factory settings by pressing the reset button at the back of the router and holding it in for about 10 seconds. you might have to use a thin object to get into the little hole where the reset button resides. Once reset, the username and password as above will work.
Set up the DWL-G710
Make sure you are using the right range of IP addresses, for instance, if your device has a default address of 192.168.0.1, then your computer must have a manually input address of something like 192.168.0.2, otherwise the devices will not communicate. You can change the address on your computer be going into your network connections folder, right clicking on your LAN folder, selecting properties, then right click on TCP/IP protocal on the protocal list, and also select properties. Here, you must uncheck the "Automatically Obtain IP Address" option and input the address shown above. The next two boxes will be 255.255.255.0 and for Default Gateway enter your devices IP address. Don't worry about the DNS address for now. Press ok to save the settings. You may have to restart your computer when you are finished. I hope this information helps you. Good luck!
When i type in http://192.168.0.30 it dose nothing
OK, u need to hot reset it.
push the pin in for 15seconds while the device plugged in.
then connect via a cable and put in static settings.
ip: 192.168.0.50
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gate way: 192.168.0.1
should work.
Range Extender DWL-G710 & Wireless N Router DIR-615
Try to configure your new router and you have to reconfigure the Range extender to tally with the new router. The IP Address that the range extender should have should depend on the DHCP server of your router that provides the IP Address.
I want to get a password in my dap-1150
when you say you want to get a password in your WAP I assume you want to enable security: there are 3 different ways to do it:
Enable WEP
(this is the most basic one and should be sufficient if you don't have a known hacker around your neighborhood and if you don't do transmit any critical information from your computer, ex. large and critical bank transactions.)
Step 1 Log into the web-basedconfiguration by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP addressof the access point (192.168.0.50).
Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.
Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left side.
Step 4 Click the Enabled radio button next to WEP.
Step 5 Next to WEP Encryption, select the level of encryption (64 or 128 bit).
Step 6 Next to Key Type, select HEX or ASCII. You will need to use the same key on all your wireless devices.
HEX - use 0-9 and A-F only.
ASCII - All numbers and letters.
Step 7 You can enter up to 4 different keys. Select the key you want to use by clicking on the corresponding radio button.
Step 8Enter your encryption key. You make this up yourself. If you selectedHEX, then enter a key made up of a combination of numbers (0-9) andletters (A-F). For example - A4572BCC19 (HEX).
Step 9 Click Apply to save settings.
Note:If you are configuring your access point from a wireless adapter, youwill lose connectivity as soon as you click Apply. You must enable WEPon your adapter and enter the same exact key as you entered on youraccess point.
Enable WPA-PSK (Passphrase) (this one is better than wep, this is the one currently suggested, it's not uncrackable but it's certainly harder than wep)
It is recommended to configure WPA-PSK on your wireless access point before your wireless network adapters.
Step 1Log into the web configuration of the DWL-G700AP by opening up a webbrowser and typing in the IP address of the Access Point(192.168.0.50).
Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.
Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left hand side.
Step 4 Next to Authentication select WPA-PSK using the radio buttons.
Step 5Enter a Passphrase. The passphrase or key is an alpha-numeric passwordbetween 8 and 63 characters long. It can include symbols (!?*&_)and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all otherwireless clients.
Step 6 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.
Make sure you enter the same exact WPA-PSK Passphrase on your wireless clients.
Enable WPA (RADIUS)
It is recommended to configure WPA on your wireless access point before your wireless network adapters.
Step 4 Next to Authentication select WPA using the radio buttons.
Step 5 Under 802.1X enter the IP Address, Port and Secret Key for RADIUS Server 1. Repeat for RADIUS Server 2 if applicable.
Step 6 Click Apply and then Continue to save the settings.
the following one is to make sure only those who know the name of your router (SSID) can access it. it's not setting up a password but it's another level of security
Disable SSID Broadcast
Step 1 Open your web browsersuch as Internet Explorer and enter the IP address of the DWL-G700AP inthe Address bar and press Enter. The default IP address is192.168.0.50.
Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and your password (leave blank by default). Click OK.
Step 3 Select the Advanced tab and then click Performance on the left side.
Step 4 Next to SSID Broadcast, select the Disabled radio button.
Step 5 Click Apply to save your settings.
the next one, as the one before. it's not a setting a password but to make sure only those network adapters you have or know can access your router, it's another level of security
MAC Address Filtering
Step 1 Open your web browserand type the IP address of the access point in the address bar. Thedefault IP address is 192.168.0.50. At the login, enter your username(admin) and password (default password is blank). Click OK
Step 2 Click the Advanced tab and then click Filters on the left side.
Step 3 In the section MAC Filters, select the radio button for the mode you would like to use.
Disabled - Disables this feature and will allow all wireless clients to connect.
Allow - Blocks all clients except for what you enter in the list.
Deny - Allows all clients except for what you enter in the list.
Step 4 Enter the Ethernet MAC address that you wish to Allow or Deny.
Step 5 Click Apply and then click Continue to save your settings.
Can not access through the IP address
you have to plug it in to your computer with a network wire to configure it first. once you restart it with your configuration, then unplug it and it will start repeating your Wi Fi signal. Don't worry if you cant access it wirelessly. I've had one for a couple of years and it's funny that way sometimes. But it will still repeat the signal.
Got a DWL-G710 wireless extender that will not
First I would try a reset, as this extender should would with your default settings of your network.
I would suggest just giving your router a reset. Here are the procedures for your particular router:
Reset Procedure
Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.
Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.
Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.
Step 4 Release the Reset button.
Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.
Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.
make sure to setup your wireless security again and make sure to set an admin password on your router after the restart.
I have already installed my DAP-1150. Now how to
open your internet explorer and type into the address 192.168.0.1 then enter, A box will pop up, at this point either enter your password and username, or (if you have none yet) type Admin for user name and press enter. You can use the wizard to guide you thru the setup at this point. This will help you setup everything including your WEP security.
Hope this helps
Configuration dap 1150
You cannot configure the DLink by the URL address http://dlinkap?
You connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DLink.
Then open Internet Explorer and enter the URL
http://192.168.0.1
the default login = admin
the PW is blank (just press Enter)
You can now configure the DLink.
Can't access the internet.
Is there any particular reason you're using a static IP? Most routers are set up already for DHCP.
If you need to use a static IP, make sure you have the right settings for the default gateway and DNS servers (you'll have to contact your ISP to find out the addresses for the DNS servers).
I would recommend switching to DHCP though, and you won't have to worry about such settings.
Ip conflict after setting up dwl-g710
Hi,
You will get an IP conflict if you have assigned the same IP address on your network devices. Every networking devices should have different network address or IP address. If for example the IP address of your router is 192.168.0.1, then your wireless expander can be configured as 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4 and so on but not 192.168.0.1 since it is already being used by the router.
WHERES DRIVER
Go to Dlink support Page
http://support.dlink.com/downloads/
select your model DWL then G710
Hope this helps thanks
