Bucket full light will not

The bucket full light is controlled by a manual 'float' switch in the bucket itself
-when the water level rises...it lifts the float ...turns on the light and does not allow the unit to operate because it believes it is full.

It is very common for the 'float' to gets misaligned, hung-up, etc. when you remove and re-insert the bucket. Sometimes the 'chain' gets twisted, turned...which does not allow the float to ...float...rather it is 'hung-up' which indicates it is 'full'...when in fact it is clearly not.

To check this:
  • remove bucket from unit
  • look into the top of the bucket opening to locate the 'float'...generally 2" round plastic ball on a shaft, (or chain)
  • softly cup the float in order to lift this up...with the unit stilll plugged in...to see if the light goes off...this is very likely
  • then be sure that the float mechanism is able to freely 'float' in the space....i.e. you are trying to simulate the impact of rising water levels in the bucket
  • as it rises (in your hand the machine will turn off/light on...as it drops....the light shuts off, allowing the machine to run (when humidity levels demand it)
  • then re-install the bucket....being very careful to lift the float, while you insert it...there is generally a little nack to it...but you quickly learn how to do it easily (I just reach into the space...cup the float...put the bucket on an angle...slide it in....release the float into the bucket...(remove hand)...then finish pushing the bucket into place
-hope this helps

Unit Runs (fan and condenser) but no water?

By condenser I assume you mean the compressor is running. Is there ice forming on the front coil?

My Comfort-Aire BHD 651-C died

The Comfort-Aire crapped out again! We started the season with a little 17-pint Sears, but it wasn't cutting the mustard getting the accumulated moisture out of the cellar, so we fired up the Comfort-Aire 65-pint machine. It got the humidity down to 50% pronto, and kept it there for the better part of a week when all of a sudden it quit. Died! Nothing! Not a glimmer in the control panel, and pushing the buttons did absolutely nothing. Unplugging it and plugging it in again produced a faint "chirp" but that was all. Naturally, the thing is weeks out of warranty. Without the warranty, the nearest service place wants a $60 "consultation fee" just to look at it, so I decided to see if I could fix it myself before seeking professional aid.

After getting an exploaded view of the machine from the web, I removed the collection bucket, the filter, and the two screws from under the plastic front cover. In addition to the two screws, the cover is held by little tabs that fit into notches in the steel sides. To get the plastic cover off, I slid a wooden popsicle stick under the plastic, thus stretching the plastic enough to get the tabs out of their holes without scratchng the unit.
The front cover is tethered to the unit by a cable attached to a circuit board which forms the back of the push-button control panel. On one side of this circuit board there is a row of 14 soldered connections. They are very close together, and any conductive contaminent that gathers between them is guaranteed to short them out. That's apparently what happened to mine, for scraping between them with a toothpick, and cleaning them with a toothbrush
brought the unit back to life again. That's all it took to repair my Comfort-Aire. The plastic cover snaps back
in place easily.

Fan does not come on

I've seen abunch of these. The fan motor has a fuse wound into the windings. It cannot be replaced you need a new fan motor. The motors seem to run hot normally, leading to a short lifespan.
I suggest buying a better brand unit.

Full light stays on always

Don't know your model specifically, but most dehumidifiers have a float that shuts the system down when the tank is full. Maybe the float is not going up and down like it should. With the power off and the tank out, see if the float is descending like it should when the tank is out. Popping it up and down a few times might solve the problem.

What does the check filter light indicate?

Don't know your model specifically, but you might want to check the air filter at the front. It could be totally clogged up and no air can pass through for the system to work.
