DVD rom not reading
If the DVD is not reading any CD, then it is often a lens problem.
Try first cleaning lens with a lens cleaner DVD, possibly one with cleaning solution, that can be purchased at any computer & electronics shop.
If that does not work the unit must be taken apart, to clean the lens pickup with isopropyl alcohol and soft cotton tips.

Unable to read files from some dvd
hi there
Playing DVD on a computer can be complex, and involves many processes, each dependent on the one before it. Sometimes a DVD is released that includes features so advanced that some hardware may have a difficult time reading it properly. If the drive’s manufacturer has been advised about the issue, they usually release an upgrade to the firmware of the DVD drive to correct the issues.
Firmware is the control software in a storage device, and contains coded instructions for recognizing the contents of whatever disc is inserted. It is referred to as "firmware" because it is not stored on a disc itself, but rather a hardware chip inside the drive’s housing. Other devices, such as ZIP drives, CD-ROM drives, floppy disk drives, and even hard drives, all have their own firmware as well. This is a crucial component when using disc-based media.
Fortunately, the chip that stores the firmware information is designed to be "reprogrammed" with new instructions, should problems arise. If this situation exists in your computer, then it is possible that the manufacturer of your DVD drive has released an update that corrects the problem.
so my advice, check your manufacturers site if there is a firmware upgrade for your dvdrom. and always put in mind to clean your rom.
hope this helps.
fixya!

SONY CX330 camera shutting down
Why do they need to be turned on all the time? If your using them as security cameras they are not designed for that job. The 330 could be overheating because of the constant use. Some cameras have a built in 'Overheat' switch which could be switching it off.
These cameras are designed for short periods of use, recording things like parties and holiday trips. How old are these handycams? These do get old and the technology in them can wear out if in constant use.
