When i put in a disc in my CD Driver nothing

May be dirt on the laser lens and the drive can't detect the pressance of a disk. It is possible to clean it with a cotton bud by gently wiping it accross the lens but it means removing the drive and taking the top of to access the lens.

When i put a cd

Hi,

Try to run the following hyperlink

Hyperlink to microsoft automatic assistance

Hyperlink to Cd drive autofix

If it doesnt work then try following steps:

  1. loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Click Start, and then click Run. (in case of windows 7 click start, look for search program and files , type in there regedit and hit ok, jump to step 3)
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

  1. In the right pane, click UpperFilters. Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. Does not read any discs

Hay, I have some solution.
Try to turn off the vista's burning feature.

It's not yours or anyones burners....just an update in vista which buggered the policies up

Go to your run command and type (start.....Run.....)
type gpedit.msc
Go to User configuration/Administrative templates/Windows components/Windows explorer
On the right pane, double click on "Remove CD burning features" tick the enabled button, then OK.
Reboot or logoff/logon to apply.

If your vista version does not have the gpedit function, do the following.
Open regedit, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In the right pane, if it does not already exist, create a new 32-bit DWORD value. Name the new value as NoCDBurning, and assign the value data to 1.
Reboot or logoff/logon to apply.

This should fix the problem
it worked for me
pass this round

i think it also help for u better

I tried the solutions listed but none helped. I finally found a link to a Mirosoft link which solved my problem. I ran the 'Fix It' program and it solved my problem. Here is a link to the site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060.

I have a new laptop hpDV61340SA with windows 7 iam

It means your Dvd-Drive can't read the contents of the Cd/Dvd media, try the media on another computer and check if it can be read or not, if it is so, then your option is to copy the files from the cd to the other Pc and save it to your flash drive, so that you can install it later, or if you can, replace the dvd/cd rom drive with another spare. Good luck.

The cd/dvd drive is not recognized

If you recently removed or changed a drive from one of the drive bays, you may have to make one fo the drives the "master' and the other the 'slave'.
If you only have one drive and it is set to 'slave', it will probably not recognize the drive.
there is a small set of jumpers on the back of the drive, near the ribbon cable connection. you will need to look on the drive for the settings for master / slave, and set the drive appropriately.
