Without seeing plates it is hard call. personally I would remove old plate and install new plate in accordance with instructions. You want to not void warranty by using old plate. There should screws into the studs this is the desired mounting. You can use your knuckle and tap across the wall, when you reach stud the sound will be different. Good Luck when I replaced MW units for customers I always used supplied parts. I have also been called to correct installation by store. the people they sent should not been allowed to attempt the project ( I didn't mind as i charged for my time and tools and knowledge.)

Which model do you have? One microwave in this series is the PSA9120SFSS. To set the clock, press Settings (second from the bottom on the left of the Control Panel). Turn the dial to Clock Settings. Check the LCD screen to select Set Clock. Turn the dial to set the hour, including AM or PM. Press the dial to save this. Then turn the dial to set the minutes. You may possibly have an issue with one of the door switches or its mount may be loose, misaligned, or broken. An F3 error code indicates that the keypad for the control panel is bad or has a short.

I would first advise unplugging the oven for a minute or so and then plugging it back in and then seeing if proper operation is restored.

Is the cooling fan coming on when you try to microwave?

Try unplugging it from the wall for a minute and then plug it back in and try it.

Are you saying that the keypad is unresponsive?

Or that you can program it, but it won't start when you hit the "Start" key?

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode (open for microwaving, closed for convection cooking). If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle or display an error code. This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the damper switch or damper motor, or the damper door may be binding. To set the clock on most GE microwaves: 1 With the microwave door closed, press CLOCK. 2 Touch number pads that reflect the time of day (1:45 would be 1, 4, 5). 3 On some newer models, indicate AM or PM for morning or evening. 4 Press CLOCK or START to lock in the time. If you prefer not to display the time: Disconnect the power for 30 seconds. After restoring power, do not set the clock. If your model has an ON/OFF clock display, you can choose not to have the time displayed. To choose this option, press the 0 pad for about three seconds. To Turn the display back on, press the 0 again.
