Tuner
I do not think this TV has a DTV tuner. Only TV with screens of 35" or bigger that were manufacturedafter 2004 should have a digital tuner.
Apex 51 inch projection model gb5108
I have worked on projection displays for about 17 years 20years electronic. and this sounds like a vertical deflection amplifier problem. this is if the lines or the rainbow you said that you see are horizantal.
Great sound no picture
When I turn my tv on there is one certain channel that goes black after watching less than 5 minutes.
this might be due to electronic tuner or loose contact in that particular section.
100% problem will be solved
thanks
No Sound, perfect picture but no sound
go to the audio menu setup then find the sub menu speaker after that you will see some command indicates if you want to on or off the speaker, choose the on command to be able to hear the sound in your television from your dvd player.
No Sound, great picture
Hi,
A suggestion to a similar post @ http://www.fixya.com/support/t187720-no_sound
If all else fails, you may want to try the "thump test" this will help you determine if its a loose/cold solder problem inside the TV. Give your TV a good whack at the side, top or back, if sounds comes on even briefly, it's a loose/cold solder problem, if not then you probably have to have the unit serviced by a qualified professional.
The "thump test" is not a recommended action. Most techs would not even mention it but somehow it is performed (whether deliberately or not) by most.
If verified that sound is faulty due to loose or cold solder, then it is a simple matter of locating the fault and resolder.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Picture goes to one thin horizontal line in middle of screen
There is a bad solder connection in the vertical sweep circuit. if you know how toi solder, go and find the vertical output IC and resolder that first.. but if you have no solid state electronic repair experience, please find a trained tech to assist you in this repair, as if you wait it may end up costing you double of what it would now, so haveit done ASAP. Good Luck

Cannot scan for channels on remote
The remote model number doesn't help directly. This remote controls several Sanyo TVs including the DP46142 and DP32242. Manuals Lib has the owner's manual (copyright 2012) here:
https://www.manualslib.com/products/Sanyo-Dp46142-77711.html . Press Menu (below and to the left of the arrow keys). Select Setup (the icon that looks like a satellite dish) using the left/right arrows. Press the down arrow and go to ANT/Cable setup. Press OK (in the center of the arrow keys). Use the left/right arrow keys to make sure that the Ant In line is set to Antenna. Press OK. Go down to Auto Setup and press OK. Choose from All Channels, Analog Channels and Digital Channels and press OK again. Select Apply and press OK when the scan is finished. (All channels and Digital Channels will work the same way since most analog channels are no longer broadcasting.) See
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/306779/Sanyo-Dp32242.html?page=22#manual . Note: digital channels will not display if the signal strength is low. You may need a different antenna or a different antenna placement. See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for suggested station transmitters.
I hope this helps.

(note: the physical buttons on the TV should work to navigate the menu. Use the channel buttons for Up/Down and volume for left right. The OK button is the Input button.)
