Dell W4201C 42 in. Plasma HDTV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
It has a picture but it is jumping what do you think could be wrong with it?
There can be many things that can cause a jumping or unstable picture. The power supply is the starting point. You would have to be able to monitor the voltage outputs to determine if there is instability.
Then there is the testing of the circuit boards by monitoring the proper waveforms, as per indicated in the service manual. You will require the proper test instruments for this. Once the defective board is found it will have to be replaced.
If the set is out of warranty, it may be more worth while to replace it. Servicing out of warranty can be too expensive to be cost effective.

Remote control not working
My remote does not work. I have put in new batteries but it does not work. Is there any way I can get a new one?
No sound with dvd connection
Check connections for loose contacts, and whether the audio in has been selected to connect the RC cables, and whether the output selected at DVD end is correct. Check for jammed buttons of volume or mute on remotes of both.
Takes along time to come on.
Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter
Distorted Picture
Problem is likely main board (processes all signals) or even the power supply board is possible.Considering brand parts may be hard or impossible to find.
Dell w4201c no picture just bright colored spots
Was this set moved or transported? Is it possible someone struck the screen even if mildly? If you can take a few good pictures and post them somewhere on the internet and provide the location--seeing what it looks like might tell what is wrong.A classic description: set comes on but is a black swirling cloud where images can be dimly seen but are not clear--gets a little better after a few minutes but never gets normal.
