West Bend recommends 2 cups of (medium coarse) ground coffee for 36 cups of coffee. It also states that theses measurements are for mild coffee. Add another 1/4 - 1/2 cup for stronger coffee. No, it's an electric coffee pot, it heats the water and makes the coffee simultaneously.

You fill it to the line indicating how many cups of coffee you want to make. Then you add coffee to the brew basket, at least 1 full heaping teaspoon per cup. Put the basket on top of the stem and place the stem into the coffee maker. Put the lid on and plug it in. That's it. Don't plug it in without the lid, it's a percolator. It will squirt the water out the top of the stem and it flows down through the coffee grounds.

It shouldn't hurt it.

I have a West Bend 3648E 2496 coffee maker and need a manual too! I don't have a clue how to operate this thing!

The P122-45 should fit your coffee urn. West Bend has 2 different 36 cup coffee urns, both use this same basket.
