I have a philips 42pf7320a/37, red light flashes 7

Hi,

This model TV is known for having issues with the SSB board. The price for the part alone is about $600 plus shipping. The only way to know for sure what is causing the problem, which parts that are no longer within factory specs and for proper repair all the electronics must be diagnosed by someone with the correct electronic test equipment and the skills to use the test equipment, but it is very likely the SSB board. Honestly with the price of the part being so expensive your best option would be to replace the TV.

If you wish, you could open up the TV and check Power Supply Board for any Swelled / Leaked / Bulged Caps. If you find them , replace with similar Caps.Next thing would be to locate the VA and VS voltage test points and check them upon turn ON. (if you have a voltmeter).

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Most like your Y-buffer down is going bad. Replace the up and down y-buffers. You might have to go as far as replacing the y board.

Good evening I have a philips 42 plasma and as

Good day sir, there is a probability that a loose component inside your TV is the culprit, and as you tap it gently on its side it makes contact again, the part is usually (probably) located at the Vertical stage of the TV, you can't do anything at this point but to call your local service repair man, they will look for the loose part, resolder it and test. It seem simple but it takes a lot of time to find the loose part. hope this helps.

My Philips plasma TV keeps going to the

There are really only 3 possible reasons for this:

1) The remote receiver in the set is responding to light--you can locate it with the remote(cover it up with something) This is not real likely but possible.

2) If the set has a menu button on the front--it may be bad--engaging when it should not--only way to find out if this is the problem is open the set and disable or disconnect that keyboard.

3) You have some kind of problem in the set--the microprocessor for all these sets processes commands from either the remote of the front keyboard. Hope you do not find this as it means an expensive board will have to be located/replaced.

As a TECH what I have done before in this type of situation is open the set and locate the MENU or DEVICE button(same thing with different names) and unsolder it.

If the set works normally with the remote--the tiny switch for that function is bad---happens because they are not well made or someone pushes too hard too often on them.

No magic wand here--it has to be for one of the three reasons mentioned above.

Let me know if you have questions or need advice--by the way if you get me the full model number for the set I can research it at a site I use and maybe give you a part number for the front keyboard--some of these sets it is just all the buttons etc and some it also has the remote receiver on it.

Let me know if I can help---I am here to help.

Happy New Year!

Regards, SD TECH

This fix was posted on similar problem, worthy of repeating: Replaced 3300mf 10V capacitors at PS. Both had bulged slightly. Upsized to 25V as the previous solution poster had suggested 16V but I could not locate 16V so used 25V and TV is back to normal!

We have a Philips 4 BDS4231R/00 and it does not

Hey John, I am experiencing a very similar problem. If I unplug the TV when it is on (green light) and plug it back in. It begins green, and clicks to red. I immediately turn the TV back on with the remote. Most of the time it seems to struggle for several seconds, sometimes with a little scratchy audio popping in and out. It will then go from green to red on the TV and if I try to turn it back on it will go green for a few seconds and back to red but without any click coming from the TV. No matter how many times I try after that, no TV. If, on the other hand, I unplug while green, plug it back in and with the remote turn it back on after it has come up green and then clicked to red, it will come on. It might take thee or five times but at least it comes on... If you hear of a real solution, please let me know ([email protected]) in the meantime, best of luck.

My T.V. just went off and there is no power gonh

Hi.

If there is no power at all, then it is either the power cord or power board inside the TV. Test using an extension connected to a different main, and if the power cord is fused, replace the fuse.

Your TV went in stand by and does not wake up because an internal fault had been detected, and now the TV is in protect mode.

If after the fault the TV went in standby and does not wake up, then the TV has on protect mode after detecting a fault.
When this happens higher voltages are shut down to prevent further damage.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or DVD connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a led on (sometimes flashing) in front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The led light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1 The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the standby fault mode.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
