Mr. Coffee 072179228578 12 Cup Coffee Maker - Page 9 Questions & Answers
How does the pot make strong or reg. coffee by
By pressing the button for "stronger" coffee, it slows down the rate at which the water enters the grounds. This allows the water to set in the grounds longer and therefore can make the coffee a bit stronger.
This is why on some pots when there is a 4 cup setting used, it takes longer for the coffee to be made. With such a small amount of coffee, it should go thru more slowly to get the same result.

What do you like or don't like about this Product?after using this pictured maker for a year or more , cleaning regularly it will still have wet gunk buildup above the tank on a ledge behind the dial. if you manage to get liquid clear up to that level you can short out the electronics as there are 2 screws there an unsealed electronics. only dissembling the coffee pot will allow you to see the offending gunk , mold , mildew an sludge you would never want to drink. and very much alive since you add water an let it set all night . this model should have come with the middle tank removable an needed to be totally redesigned. if you have one of these over a year old toss it as your endangering your health very very much....... Not brewing at all. Have tried to clean w/vinegar
When you say it is not brewing do you also mean there are no lights? First make sure your receptacle is live. Kitchen receptacles should be on Ground Fault duplexes which are notorious for tripping. If you have power to the jack the problem is the coffee pot. If you are good with a screwdriver and have a Digital meter, take the unit apart. Check all components for continuity. There should be a thermal fuse (all metal with small can between two leads, has point on one end) check it. If it is open this is the problem. Fuses are rated in degrees celcius, usually 140 degrees or higher.

Coffee spilling out the sides of the carafe
I had a Mr Coffee that did that. It was running across the brew pause arm and making a mess. I discovered that the position of the carafe had a lot to do with it. If I brewed with the handle pointing out towards me, very little leaked out. I finally tore the brew pause arm off of the bottom of the brew basket. I works great and hey, I can wait ten minutes for a cup of coffee! However, if yours is new and doing this, I would contact the company and see if they'll make it good.
I have a FTX49 Mr Coffee Maker purchased 9 months
There is a lever in the back of the carafe area that pivots and controls a spring loaged valve on the bottom of the removeable filter basket. This lever breaks easily. Pull the filter basket out and you can see the lever hanging down into the carafe "bay". (assuming it's not broken off entirely).
When you pull the pot out during brewing, the lever swings forward and allows the valve on the bottom of the filter basket to close. This shuts off the flow of coffee to avoid drips. The plastic lever is held in place underneath the valve by two round tab "ears". One of these ears can break off, causing the level to hang at an angle. This means the filter valve never completely opens, even if the pot is pushed in all the way. During brewing, the filter basket can't drain into the pot fast enough and overflows.
I fixed mine by going ahead and removing the damaged lever and then wedging the valve open. The spring loaded valve has a little drip "Spout" which hangs underneath the filter basket that directs the coffee into the pot. You can push in on the back of the drip spout and wedge something into the two slots at the back to hold the valve open. This let the coffee flow freely during brewing.
My coffee machine won't brew
Without opening the item up you would not be able to cure it. Unplug it, take cover off and have a look to see if you can see a blockage or a reset betton for the element. If not you may want to replace it or get your item repair via a engineer.
Water pours out of the back
Hello,
If it is like mine, you will notice a small hole in back at top.
If I overfill, water will run out the hole.
