Philips DCP750/37 shows "wrong region"
Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

Display Has Jagged Lines
The LCD panel or controller circuit is cracked - call Philips to find out if you are in warranty - mention nothing to them about dropping your player, or your warranty will be voided. It is not a part that can be ordered.
Why the screen comes on blank

My screen has vertical lines
What is happening to your laptop is the power line connecting a few rows of pixels is failing so only partial colors are showing up causing the vertical lines. Usually screen replacement is the only answer to fix it. You can usually find replacement LCD on Ebay.

The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV.
Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV.

My portable dvd player is
Hi,
Have you tried to unplug and plug in the Device after few
minutes, say 30 minutes? If not, try it.
It is quite a common
problem with this model, you can try a clean on the lens, you can use a
DVD cleaning kit which you can buy from Radio Shack or similar or you
can clean manually.
To clean manually unplug from wall and leave
two minutes.Remove cover identify the lens as a small round glass lens
in the DVD tray assembly.Clean with the glass lens with a cotton bud or
similar, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or do the clean dry,
any other cleaning product could damage the unit.Remove any foreign
objects in the unit.Reassemble and test
If no luck then
you will need a new laser assembly I'm afraid.
Now, regarding Caps. Yes, it could be another Problem. When you Open the
Player, you would see Caps like :-
If you see, Cylindrical Type Components, all those are Caps. There might
be chance that any one of these could be Leaked / Bulged / Swelled.
Make sure that there is no Cold Solder Joint and there is no other
Broken Component on the Board.
If you find anything Swelled /
Leaked / Bulged, you could De Solder and Re Solder the New Caps. The
caps could be easily available in the Market. You could buy it Online or
you could go to Radio Shack, Fry's.Make sure to Buy a Similar one. I
have seen , if you buy a Low Quality Cap, it could again Swelled or
Blown.Usually Bad Caps have Ammonia Kind of Odor.
The Cost of
Caps would be less than $20.
I hope that the
above information would be useful for you to Resolve the Problem.
Let
me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks
for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Philips PET710 DVD player shows 'no disc' when disc inserted
I have the same problem with my portable dvd player and found that cleaning the lens of the player using a non-alcolhol wet nap for cleaning eye glasses worked well. I also found the rail that the optics runs along while playing needed a very small amount of silicone greese applied using a Q-tip. You may find that the optic unit may be "stuck" somewhat but can be resolved by gently moving the optic along its guide using a finger.
This changed my unit from not working at all, to working intermittantly sometimes having to vary the player on and off to recongnise the disc. Hope this works

Hello,
this problem is usually common with portable DVDs.
The fault is from the flex that connects the screen to the main board.
Fault also usually comes for screen board and the screen itself.
I would advice that you take it for a checkup so that the problem would be fixed.
This problem is a common one.
I wish you the best.
No disc
try cleaning it might help if not might just have to replace it
