if it is an lcd it could be the inverter to light up the backlight of the lcd thats faulty or it could be the harness to the lcd or the lcd itself
Stuck on "loading your personal settings..." screen.
try booting to the SAFE MODE (F8 at boot) and see if you can log in to the ADMIN account from the safe mode. If you can, then create a new user profile, then reboot to normal mode and try booting to the NEW profile. If that works, then the old profile is likely corrupt
Computer runs when cold, dies as soon as it gets
Most people complain about their computer freezing up.
You have components that are entering the failure stage, once the computer sensor reports heat it shuts down. Check that you have fan activity, this is the first line of diagnosis. Otherwise its one of the power chips on the motherboard and is a replacement job with a high cost. Fan replacement is cheap by comparison.

Blank/black screen at power on
This is hopefully a possible fix. I have encountered a similar problem with windows xp and vista. the fix I found that will eliviate this problem and a startup-reboot-startup-reboot... If you have your original windows (xp or vista) CD lounch it like you would do to do a system install. As the installation starts it will show ask you if you would like to do a recovery using the recovery console, just press ESC and go on. Press the F8 to accept the license. If Windows is not completly broke, it will find the original installation on your hard drie. It will ask if you want to repair. Press the R key and windows will reinstall your operating system, without destroying your software or data. After it is done the system will go to the windows startup screen. You will need your windows product key located on your machine or on the original software packaging.
I hope this will fix your problem.

Cant log into laptop with my amidd password
if you are getting prompt, "This computer <Service tag number>-595B is password protected ..... you'll need to call Dell technical support to get the master password generated to clear the message. There is no hardware way to clear the password short of replacing the motherboard. Same applies for a BIOS level Hard Drive Password.
When booting the computer it stops with the messag...
The problem of your computer is in the software. You need to reinstall the OS (Operating system) for that computer. When you have a knowledge about intalling the software just try it to reinstall the OS to solve that problem. But if don't have, bring that computer to the nearest computer service center to reinstall the OS of that computer.
Acer extensa 4420 won't start
I had problems getting an Acer Extensa 4420 to boot or to enter bios. It would never complete the post. After taking it apart, changing the CMOS battery and making several other adjustments I read that a faulty DVD would cause the problem. I removed the DVD and it went right into Windows VISTA. So I put the DVD back in and had the same problems over again. The issue is a faulty DVD and has nothing to do with the motherboard, or the CMOS battery, or any of those other complex issues. It is simply a faulty DVD that refused to allow POST to proceed.
