It might just be the fact that your laptop has died on you. Or it could be that the screen has quit working and needs to be replaced.It could be an issue with the hard drive.

Have you tried different programs? Such as VLC?

I'm sure you already have checked this but it's worth a try. Did you check in the control panel area under the Power Options for how long it's set to time out the screen? Sometimes people don't know that they can change how long the screen will stay lit, then time out. In that same area you can set the time for timeout of the Hdd to sleep, closing the lid and what the power button actually does.

I speculate there isn't much wrong with the dvd drive if it plays a dvd and if you are certain there isn't anything wrong with your photo disc (it plays ok with other computers), a possibility is a problem with the media playing software...

what is the OS? if windows go to control panel and select system and security to create a restore point, doing a factory reset will leave the computer without anything to restore to though

if the laptop os an older one it is time to back up the latop and get a new hard drive for where the drivers are the hard drive is bad so time to replace it hard drive usely only last about 2 years and if you got more than that you did good

PC to that, you left out what you are doing. and what in the world uses 1983 640x48 relic resolutions? what?\ Dell M5030 but what OS is there windows what? this dell is 8 year old right? this dell came with windows 7 , dell tells me , new is it still w7 if not do tell what it is now? im reading your manual no online , it has no HDMI port so you must be using and adapter from the VGA port to some NONE DELL adaptor (VGA > HDMI) unstated by you, so find who made that adapter and get help from the maker, of that.

Some computers will work with overclocking. It is done in the BIOS HOWEVER....it causes quite a bit of heat in your processor and can destroy your processor. Go into your BIOS and look for overclocking or clock velocity or speed. Keep in mind...if this can be done...you are going to exponentially shorten your laptop life and if you extreme overclock it.... probably lock up or brick your machine. Semper Fi, Z

Check lights on the router and make sure they are on where applicable. Also unplug it for 5 minutes and plug in again the wait 10 minutes to try connecting and give the device lots of time to try and connect. If you haven't already plug it directly in with one of the Ethernet cables, or make sure your pc / computer / device is on auto DCHP and so is the router. if you are using a ipad or tablet try another device or reset the router using the button on it.

try going to the control panel , to the programs and features and seeing the list of installed programs high light each line that you do not use or need and uninstall it the basic programs are the win system , office essentials , photo sop e-mail word etc but programs that are for games , music, etc or programs that you never use driver installer , pc cleaner , pc updater etc can be uninstalled now having cleaned out unnecessary programs , go to device manager and select defrag and pull all of the bytes into like areas on the disc saves the computer time in searching for data finally after that is done in the search bar under programs on the desktop type CHKDSK and then enter it that is an internal program that goes through every bit of data on the disc, repairs as it goes and restores register points for all data that program runs for around 6 hours but it is well worth it to get the pc running properly
