I have a inspiron 6000 and i cant here anything

To start go to control panel>>audio, open the audio settings and check if volume is at minimum or audio is muted.

If it is not muted, or you cannot turn up the volume, then try reinstalling the driver software for the audio on your computer.

You can download audio drivers from the link below:

Mic not working in 710 M

Hello poo.
Can I assume that your audio is still working? Let's look at a couple of things within your notebook.
1. Open Control Panel than open Sound and Audio Devices.
Click the Audio tab. What should be listed in both playback & recording is device AC97? Click the Voice tab. Same device should be there. Close all opened windows except Comtrol Panel. Open System.
2. Click the Hadrware tab, than click Device Manager.
Scroll down to Sound, video and game controller. Click the + sign to list all devices. Do you see the AC97? Is there any yellow ! points?
3.If you saw the AC97 in all places described & you have no yellow ! point the odds are your internal mic chip is defective.
The only way to fix this is through Dell & they would replace your mainbord in the notebook. However if you wish too I can explain how to uninstall your sound device driver & reinstall the sound/mic driver software just to make sure. Ready?
While still in Device Manager. Right click once on AC97. A small window will display, left click uninstall. Your notebook may ask if your sure. Click yes. Close all opened windows. Re-start your notebook. Right click on your desktop & creat a folder, name it AC97.
We need to go to Dell now. Click the link below.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_710M&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
You'll notice the page opends to your Inspiron 710m.
Click the + sign next to Audio. Click on STAC 9750 AC97.
The download page loads. Click the ( Download Now ) button.
You can either Run it now or save it in the AC97 folder you created. Once the download finishes. Close all opened windows.
Last part. Click the start button, than click run. Click Browse & open the AC97 folder click the file R90698.EXE. Click ok.
The driver software will start to install. Once finished re-start your notebook. To test your mic. Open Control Panel, open Sound & audio devices. Click the Voice tab. Click Test Hardware tab. Windows may run it's own little test befor opening the test page.
Now your at Microphone Test page. Follow the instructions.
If you heard yourself through the testing your mic is working.
If the testing failed..... Than we are back to a defective mic.
I hope this has helped.
If you have any more questions feel free to post them here.

Good Luck & kind Regards

No sound on my dell laptop

I'm thinking when was the last time you reformatted? I know it's a hassel but it comes the time when you have no choice. Do you have your audio coming from the screen? It so then I would try speakers. They're cheap enough these days. If this works then I would be hopeful that your screen is still under warranty. If not then you may need to pull your laptop apart and replace the sound card.

Black Screen on HP Pavillion DV1000

Sounds like a backlight issue, first power reset it, unplug it, pull out the battery (its usually the long panel on the bottom or back) hodl the power button down for a minute and then repalce the battery and ac adapter. that should do the trick if not i would suggest calling HP to see if its in warranty so that you may have it repaired for free, if not take it in to a repair shop

Dell Inspiron 710m PC Notebook Problem

Go to "Device Manager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to any devices. To access the "Device Manager" go to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column.
If there is an alert, double click on that device to determine the problem, i.e.… device not configured, cannot start this device, etc…
It sounds like all your software drivers got blown away or can’t load. If that’s the case, try running diagnostics. Press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on. This will initiate a diagnostic routine to check your hardware.

Cd/dvd drive

You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.

Dell 710M Problem

Hi mod22, click on this link for the latest driver software for the Inspiron 710M notebook.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_PM_710M&os=WW1&osl=EN
You most likely received restore CD & windows CD with the dell. If you didn't than the download site above will be a must for drivers.
The error message SMART = Self-Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting Technology. It is not the same thing as drive testing. It’s actually a part of the drive electronics & it tests its self. There is a 50/50% chance after turning off SMART in the bios you're drive will continue to function.
We do not want to wipe you're drive because there are other partitions that dell has in place.
This partition is needed to restore you're drive & OS.
Try this.
1- Start up the computer & press F8 or F12 every two seconds to give you windows boot-up options.
2- Insert Windows Installation / Recovery CD into cd-rom drive, high light the cd-rom drive & press enter.
3- Let the installation process continue until it prompts you to "Press R to repair". . This should then take you into the DOS mode.
4- Type in FIXBOOT & when prompted, press "Y" to start creating the new boot partition. If everything goes right, you should get a message saying the partition was corrupted and a new one was created successfully.
5- Remove the CD and reboot your system, everything should be ok now.

If not than put you're Windows CD or recovery CD into the cd-rom drive. Again press the F8 or F12 key every two seconds at boot up until the windows boot device window loads. Choose the cd-rom drive. If you are using the recovery cd follow the prompts on you're screen. (Best choice).
If you're using the windows CD choose to format the C:\ & install windows fresh. Last option. If you know or can find the name & model of the hard disk drive, you can go to their web site & download tools & utilities software. There will be software for you to make a bootable CD that can test & fix the hard disk drive. The object of doing this is to keep the drive running rather than going through this again or buying a new hard drive. The Mfg's software will also let you know if the drive is going. (Chances are the software will repair the drive).

Good Luck!
If you have a problem with anything above just let me know & I'll try to clear up any issues.

Power supply issues

Have you checked the AC power pin (where the AC cord plugs in)?

Chances are that the pin has come loose from tugging and pulling on it. When this happens the battery charging is intermittent at best. The parts to fix this problem are usually under $10 but the labor if you take it in is gonna run $100-$200. You can repair it yourself if you're comfortable working with electronic components. Not that tough. WHen you get it fixed, invest in a Cable Retention device to keep it from happening again.

Here's a short video that talks about it. . .
