its ur lcd screen problem mainly comes when ur screen get some external shock to screen mainly its not repairable need to replace the screen other way is a risky one by resolding the screen main board which is behind the lcd screen (dont try urself ) nd its not a big problem as ur screen work properly

Compaq presario 1200 its a laptop and modem is inbuilt. If your laptop is in warranty then get in touch with Compaq. Do not try to change modem as warranty will get void. So donot try this at home.

Hi again, after extensively searching I believe your Laptop has a USB version 2.0.

Most PC's manufactured before 2001 were USB 1.0 and USB 1.1.

The Spec Guides for your PC indicate 2002 was the year of manufacture.

USB 2.0 is a faster USB connection than version 1.0 or 1.1. You might have trouble connecting devices that are USB 2.0 (which all new devices are now - since 2001).

To double check, use your Device Manager on the PC to look up the USB device and see what is written.

If you are using XP then do the following:

1. Click Start
2. Click Settings
3. Click Control Panel
   
4. In the Control Panel double-click the Systems icon.
5. In the System Properties window click the Hardware tab.
6. In the Hardware tab click the Device Manager button and you will see a list of devices.
7. Click the + button next to the word the Universal Serial Bus controllers.

If it is USB 2.0 then it should say something like USB Enhanced or USB High Speed, this means it is USB 2.0 compatible.

Check you have Audio driver installed in yout Notebook and make sure your windows audio service is running by typing "services.msc in run prompt.

If all is in place.goto control panel and double click "Sound" and click "Recording" and check "Microphone" and "Line In",it should not display "Not plugged in".If that's the case,replace your microphone.

Again click "Playback" after plugging the speakers
it should not display "Not plugged in".If that's the case,replace your microphone.

First remove the top plastic strip piece (where the power button is located) and then use a phillips screwdriver and unscrew the screws holding the keyboard in place. Gently pry it out and then remove the ribbon cable that connects the keyboard to the mainboard

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, this is the most likely case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
