Raymarine C80 GPS Receiver Questions & Answers
Can't update software
Hi
As you have isssues with boyh software update and chart I would put my bet on the cartridge reader, it could be a loos or broken pin. Use a penlight or good light and inspect the pins in the reader for damages and check that there is no pin stuck in the Navionics cartridge. If no pin is missing it may just be loose, can be fixed by opening the plotter inspect the reader from behind and use a glue gun to resecure the pin(s). In worst case you will have to replcae the reader (affordable).
What is the connection path from Garmin 72 to raymarine c80, using NMEA 1083
I'm taking this as you want to send the gps information to your C80 not receive from the C80? If this is the case the brown wire on the garmin is the nmea data out +. The Black wire is considered nmea out neg (-) of the garmin. So hook the garmin brown to the white on the raymarine. Hook the black from the garmin to the green on the raymarine. That means you are outputting lat/long info to the raymarine from the garmin.
I have a old raymarine c80 navigation sometimes
The issue is related to the antenna, either bad connection, low voltage or faulty gps. Start by checking the voltage supplied to the antenna (most probably through SeaTalk from the plotter), if you find this to be 11V or bellow - beef it up by adding external 12V. You can also check the wiring, if all looks ok - it is time to get a new gps antenna. Raymarine has a retrofit pack for the new RS130 which also includes SeaTalk ng converter.
With some luck it's only the power...
