After running the updater on your nuvi 855, it will have the latest firmware (this process does not download and install the latest map software) and should solve your problem.
If you continue to have problems, you might want to contact Garmin Customer Support directly at the address below:
If your unit is outside and you have a clear path to the sky then you probably have an issue with your antenna or another section of your receive. The best thing to do would be to have your local GPS tech take a look at it. There is a self diagnostic menu that can be brought up bu pressing the graphic that shows your battery charge. A tech can look at those numbers and tell you right away if the issue is with the antenna or another part of the circuit boards.
Make sure your zoom level is correct and that you have contact with the satellites. Once the GPS unit fixes on your location and you zoom in, you should be good to go.
First try pressing the reset button under the antenna (raise the antenna first) if that has no result thentry holding your finger on the upper right corner of the nuvi's screen while turning on the nuvi. Keep your finger pressed until the popup window appears. Touch Yes to clear all user data. All original settings are restored.Your recent selections and audible bookmarks are also deleted.
Anytime you have a distortion in the image on the screen, this can NOT be reolved with a reset. You have a bad LCD module. Take a look at the pictures on this page and see if one is like the problem you are having.
Hi, This is a common problem with units having the serial numbers beginning
with "14V", "12P" and "143". It's caused by a defective SHARP
touchscreen and needs to be replaced. Please see this link for more
info:
There is NO bypassing the PIN. It is a security feature designed to prevent the unit from functioning if stolen. If you loaned the device to your children, ask them the PIN. If they don't remember, ask them where they were when they set it. This is the security location. Going there will unlock the unit and you can then remove/change the PIN.
You've most likely correctly diagnosed the fault for yourself.
Lithium rechargeable batteries like the one in your Garmin are damaged if stored uncharged for any length of time, so you'll need to replace the battery. They're not designed to be user-replaceable on most Garmins, but if you search the web for "nuvi 350 battery" you should easily find a supplier and there will be videos to show you how to do it on your model or a closely related model. Click here for one example of an instructional video.
I haven't given you a link to a battery supplier as I don't know which country you're in nor whether you want an original (Garmin) battery, a generic compatible battery or one of the upgrade versions which give longer battery life. Personally, I'd recommend that you avoid the latter type as a new standard capacity battery usually has plenty of life in it when charged.
Good luck and please take a moment to rate my answer.
Hi... Annp.!
Nice to see you.!
This happens due to two reasons
1) It is possible that your receiver mechanism is not operating....
2) It may occur due to software problem....
So you first re-install the software. Then also problem persist then go to service station and get it repaired.....
If your Gadget is in warranty period, then best option is to visit service station. So your remaining warranty will not be cancelled.......
