the same connection i take it works when you plug in your laptop,but fails when you plug in the desktop.If yes the network card is bad.

Hey try to use the cd you got with your motherboard to install netwok/LAN.

you may download a fresh new driver from here

based on your operating system

if it is abrand new product , take it back to the stores, od contact customer support, they'll provide one..

Goto control panel and work your way through the network Set-up Wizard.
If this is not a separte Icon in control panel then look under "network Connection" Icon.

The D-Link DFE-530TX+ network card does not support booting from LAN (also called Ethernet boot or PXE boot) without the addition of an optional boot ROM chip. You'd need to purchase and install the optional ROM chip before you could use this card to boot your computer from the LAN.

I am sure it is now toast and you cannot downgrade if the wrong firmware has been installed. I would ask D-Link.
