In settings there is the parental lock code. If Bought Brand new, then the defaut password is usually 1234, so give that a try. After which you can set it to the most allowing setting, which i believe is 8 and then any movie shoud play. However if you have set a password then you either need to reset it with a PS2 format disc.

Wow.... Never heard this one before....... I would try using your ps2 with different audio-video cables (maybe just from a friends ps2) If the other cables work than all you have to do is go to your nearest playstation supplier and get new audio-video cables for your ps2. (Walmart Usually sells them)

the laser is trying to read the disc but cant there are two main reasons for this 1 the disc is damaged 2 the laser needs cleaning go to a electronics shop and buy a laser disc cleaner

You can buy new DVD pickups online for about 15-20 It will take a very small phillips screwdriver and needlenose pliers to change out the old one

I have had this happen to me before, it is likely the main disc drive motor. You can order a replacement drive from several online vendors, but considering the cost in dollars and time, you may want to find a used ps2.

• Your PS2's internal motor has stopped working. You can either get it repaired through Sony, or buy a new PS2.

When your PS2 starts to have problems reading silver backed discs you could be experiencing one of 2 different problems:

1. Your laser or disc is dirty (clean off your disc with a soft cotton cloth, and clean the laser in your PS2 with a cd drive cleaning cd)
2. The laser in your PS2 is going, you will need to take it into a shop to have it repaired, replace the laser or disc drive yourself (this will void the warranty if you have one) or get a new or different PS2.

You might have bad sytm data for that game. Delete all files related to that game
1 Clean the disc
2 Make sure that there are no marks on your laser BUT DO NOT TOUCH THE LENS
3 Reset your console
4 Try again

it's either the lens or the spindle motor.Try to clean the lens first with a cotton buds a moistened with an alcohol.then try again if nothing happens you need to replace the spindle motor this motor is the one holding the disk and spins.this motor has a brushes inside that worns out due to a long use replace it with a new one .

This is likely a problem with the lense on the reader. To fix this, you will need to open up your PS3 and locate the clear lense that emits a red light when the console is turned on. Clean that lense with an alcohol swap and try to place a game. If this does not work, it is likely that your lense is damaged and you will need to send the system into Sony for repair. I had this exact same problem a while back on a PS2. Turns out that I had a power surge and some of the internal components were fried. I sent it in to Sony and they had it back to me within a couple of weeks. You may not have had a power surge, but it is still possible that something inside the system has gone wrong. Have you spilled anything on it recently? That could also be an issue. Unfortunately, it is no secret that the Playstation was a relatively buggy console, so there have been numerous problems. Assuming that you didn't have a power surge or spill liquid on it, I would say your next best option would be to call Sony and see how much it would be to fix it. It might be almost cheaper to buy a new Playstation 2, if that's possible.
