Sony XM-1252GTR Car Audio Amplifier Questions & Answers
Can I hook up 2
If your sub woofers are SVC (single voice coil) 2 OHM each, then connecting one to each channel would make the amplifier run in 2OHM stereo
Then again, if your sub woofers are 2OHM each, it would be better to connect both together in series and connect them to the BRIDGE specified speaker terminals of your amplifier making it run a 4OHM load into one channel.
This will give you all the power the amp can give and still run stable.
A 2OHM load into one channel will likely damage your amplifier.
Do not forget to set the LPF (low pass filter)on if you are going to use the amplifier to run sub woofer/s.

Got a 12"kicker L74ohm sub and sony xm-D9001GTR mono amp
Hello juan_penaloz,
The Kicker L7 has an RMS power range of from 50-750 watts and a maximum power handling capability of 1,500 watts so your Sony amp will power it OK. A more powerful monoblock like the Alpine MRP-M1000 or the Kicker 08ZX750.1 would provide even more power and could operate safely at 2ohms.
You have the voice coils wired properly for the Sony amp. It's OK to have the sub impedance higher, but you definitely do not want it lower than the 4ohms the amp is rated at in bridged mode.
Hope this helps.
Protector light is on
Hello justin83wint,
If the amp goes into "protect mode" immediately upon power up, it's most likely a short in the power/ground or speaker connections. If it operates normally for awhile and then goes into protect, it's most likely overheating.
In the first case, I'd suspect something in the wiring. Go here to troubleshoot the
possible causes.
An amp will most often go into protection from overheating due to being operated at too low of an impedance load. Check the speaker specifications and wiring and make sure that the final impedance load matches the amps rating.
Hope this helps.
Car radio wiring
do you have the amp power wire connected to the power wires for the radio
Sony Xplod 1200w
Either the speaker is shorted out (blown), or the output transistors in the amplifier are bad. Try hooking up another speaker to the amp. If it plays, the amp is good. If not, then the amp is bad.
Sub size
The sub you want is ONE single 4 ohm voice coil sub that is no higher than 500 watts in power but more than 350 watts. Your amplifier puts out the most power in the bridged state at 4 ohms so this is why you want a single 4 ohm voice coil sub. Also, you don't want to over or under power a sub so you want your sub to match or come close to your rated value of the amp. Good luck

Blue amp light lights for 2sec
There may be more than one problem. The fact that the radio AND the amp are seeing a voltage of 7v indicates that the battery is weak or there is a bad connection somewhere in the power line.
It's also possible that the amp is defective (shorted output transistors?) and when it turns on, it's drawing excessive current. That would cause the voltage to drop more than normal. If the amp is drawing excessive current AND there is a bad connection in the power line, the amp may begin to blow fuses (depending on the reaction time of the protection circuit) when you repair the power line problem.
Nothing happening
Check your power and ground connections thoroughly. Also, check your remote turn-on connection. To test it, short the remote and the +12V connections together at the amp. This should force the amp to turn on. If all of the connections are good, there may be an issue inside the amp that will need repair.

Can it power the subs? Yes.
Can it make them crank? Well, that all depends on your expectations. That amp/sub combo is going to give each sub about 125W, which isn't much. But if it's what you have, it's better than nothing. You might also consider using only one sub and bridging the amp. This would put about 340W on the one sub, which is much more reasonable.
Protector light keeps coming on
the reason why this is happining is that your pushing to much power than that amp can handle you need to get a bigger amp so it can withstand the power that you want to push to it also the red light comes on so you dont blow the amp.

No you can not fix this yourself. If the amp is blown. But did you check all the fuses? And the remote wire connection?
