Friedrich D50C Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
Friedrich dehumidifier
Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.
Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.

I bought the FriedrichD50.
Yes, it does make sense, depending on what humidity extraction level you have it set on. Set to high, it will will remove little to low condensation/humidity. Set it to 35% or if you have an analog model (no LED screen) set the humidity extraction knob on Maximum Also, be sure that the air intake filter is clean.
Thanks for choosing FixYa.
Why does the fan run non stop? the compressor
Depending on the time sequence you have this unit set to run, Fredrich's are designed so that the fan runs almost constantly, to keep the air moving. When it senses a rise in humidity above the level you have it set on, the compressor turns ON and runs until the level of humidity is lowered. This is especially true, if you are operating this unit in continual mode.
Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
How do you set it to come on and off automatically
Generally, setting the humidity extraction level to what you want (Remember, the lower the percentage, the more humidity will be extracted) and not operating it in continual run mode will do the trick. Most humidifiers can be set to run in a 2 hour or 4 hour intervals. That means it will run as necessary for 2 or 4 hours and then turn OFF. It will turn back ON again, when the humidity level in the home rises above the setting you have it on.
Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.
