You may have a SD card with a lock switch in the lock position. If not, the internal sensor that detects the position of that switch may be bad. It could also be corrupted memory so try reformatting the memory from the menu. Scroll thru the menu until you see the memory icon.

It may be dirty battery terminals. Clean them by rubbing with a pencil eraser.

The Phillips 9360 was designed to work with a PC, only. Voice files in DSS file format can be downloaded directly to the PC via a USB cable. DSS is a format developed in the 80's.

So, I would suggest purchasing a different transcriber, one that records in WMA format . The WMA files can be played natively by both Windows and Mac and can be converted to MP3 as well.

the philips models are not MAC compatible. However, they normally show up as a folder and you can copy files.

Well the batteries are either at end of life or they have failed. You can either buy the philips replacement batteries LFH-9144 for about 20 dollars or you can go buy some generic AAA rechargeable batteries for about half the price.

The system must run through its routine before it can start up. If a mechanism is jammed or a switch is not contacting, it won't complete its routine and therefore will not start up.

Question edited for clarity. It you have standby, that shows you have power. The only things you can try is a Power Reset, disconnect from the mains, for 10 minutes. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds and then plug back in. If you are using a remote, check the batteries in the remote. You can also do the check to make sure the remote is putting out a signal. Aim the remote at the front facing selfie of a smartphone. You should see a flash. There doesn't seem to be one for this chinesium speaker.Probably a throw away item and not serviceable.

The skipping problem you are experiencing may be related to the shaft that the laser assy rides on. It may need a little greasing with silicon grease, just a litte bit. Or it could be the spindle motor is wobbling as it turns. If you are a little tech savy, then you can order a new CD drive assy through Ebay and swap it out when it arrives. If you get this far you need to know how to remove the solder short on the new assy otherwise the new drive will not work.
