KitchenAid 24 in. KUDS02FRSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Kitchen Aid Dishwasher seems to have gotten louder
time for a cleaning.. dont worry.. its pretty easy (but gross and probably full of broken glass)..
1) switch the breaker off at the panel
2) remove the baskets and unscrew the plastic thing holding on the bottom wash arm (remove the wash arm and check it for debris)
3) remove the top washer water feeder (there should be little clips that unclip it from the inside of the dishwasher).. and then it twists clockwise and pops out
4) you'll need a med flat head or better yet a star screwdriver set for the next part
5) unscrew the screw(s) holding down the plastic cover that covers the water pump intake inside the dishwasher.. this should expose a 'trap' at the front.. BE CAREFUL
6) start cleaning that out.. there should be everything from GLASS, to olive pits to cherry pits etc etc down there.. get it all!
7) while you're in there, there is another (delicate) cleaning task with the food grater/processor inside.. there is another screw that once removed, allows you to gain access to the food grinder.. there's probably debris in here as well.
8) once you've cleaned that out, take care to line up the grater into the right channel before you reinstall everything..
9) put everything back together, and run an empty load on hot with hot dry and it should be waayy quieter.. (and you'll be surprised at how clean the glassware is).
good luck

Leaking from water inlet area / above water
Hi, The inlet jet is pluggin up. Pull the dishwaser out enought to see where the inlet hose goes into the injector. Remove the hose and use a screwdrive or a piece of wire and reem out the injector that the hose attaches to. There is usually lime from the water that forms in the injector. That will cause the water to redirect and spray out.
please let me know if this helps or if I can assist you further.
Thankas
Vic
Dishwasher spots
I'm sure you use rinse aid? If not try it. Also cut down on the amount of soap you use. If these dont work your water may be to hard, and you'd need a softner.
Dishwasher overflows when running and when not
Check the water fill valve - sounds like it's stuck open. Turn the power to the machine off. If water continues to fill into the machine it's the water fill valve. If so...
Take the front lower cover off and look for the valve - it will have a water line going to it. This could also be caused by a bad control board, but look at the water valve first.
Lights blinking and won't clear
the solution #3 should work.. you may want to try again....
first turn off the Breaker to cut power then wait a few minutes then turn back on, then within 6 seconds try (Heated dry)(normal)(heated dry)(normal).. all lights should light up then you know that you are in the service cycle, and the unit should go into a self test and clear the fault. The test take about 30 minutes. let me know if you can get into it...
Not cleaning dishes
The problem sounds like a hard water situation..especially when you said the water flow is minimal at best....and if that is the case you.will continue to have the problem until you interrupt the flow of calcified water into the dishwasher (which it sounds like the calcium has collected inside the water inlet tube...(copper line) and restricted the flow of water. .Do you have hard
water?...does your coffee pot take a long time to make coffee (an older
coffee pot) if so you may consider a small water softener attached to
the water inlet line or a water filtration device...as hard water will
do just that..leave spots on the glasses and silverware as well as
colored dishes, that look like little circles of whitish dried chemical
or powder stains and in some cases fine grit. Yes you can run a full bottle of vinegar in your
dishwasher but monitor the cycle closely so it does not go into the
drain cycle right away...and let it run through an extended wash cycle
2-3 times....before it drains so as to be able to maximize the
effect...and you can also run
some CLR through the system...BUT be CERTAIN to run it through several
wash and rinse cycles after doing so as the chemicals in CLR are not
healthy...and do not leave any dishes in as you do so (whereas vinegar
is just Acetic acid and organically based). Also it is impossible for
any concrete to have gotten into the dishwasher from anything poured
down the kitchen sink drain since there is a valve in the drain pump
called a "back flow preventer" that prohibits anything from entering the
dishwasher. Also you may want to take out all the trays and remove the screen in the bottom of the dishwasher that covers the engine and pump
assembly where the sprayer arm sits atop of. After doing so ( three -6
screws) clean any food or residue found there out with a shop vac or
something and reassemble.
I hope this helps....if so please let me know by rating me ...thank you....The Fang
Dust on dishes after "clean" and spotted

I need to remove the screen in my kitchenaid dishwasher
Generally the food grinder is just a small piece of wire looking material that sits behind a screen and grinds the smallest particles that get through..and try to grind down any larger pieces that happen to get through and those that don't generally clog the screen up. To remove and clean this assembly you will have to remove both dish racks (for work room) and then the sprayer arm which may unscrew from the top of the motor cover assembly....and then there are a series of screws, (may be hex head screws) that encircle the assembly...remove those and you will have a clear view of the entire assembly...a shop vac will come in handy as there will probably be water standing in the bottom...you should be able to see the screen and the little wire arm extension that acts as the grinder(if that's what they are using in your model) you should see a nut or screw that holds the screen in place...but you may not have to remove it if you can get to easily and vacuum out the food particles or clean it with an old toothbrush or something of the sort...I used to just clean them by rubbing the end of my flat head screwdriver over the face of the screen and thereby breaking up any lodged particles.
I hope this helps...please let me know by rating me...thank you ...The Fang
Won't fill with water
Went through the diagnostic sequence on control board as per maintenance papers in machine, the problem corrected itself.
Soap dispenser not opening
Hi
If the locking clip moves in the wash cycle but dosent open, its the spring on the door.
If the clip dosent move, but when you move it the door opens, its the solenoid
Failing door latches
Misaligned door. To much weight on door. Someone, maybe a child, hanging on door when opened.
Noisy Door
The noise is comming from the counter balance spring and rope system. You will need to pull the unit out from the counter and then you will see the springs. You will have one on each side near the bottom of the floor. Sometimes a lil grease or PAM spray will quiet them down.
Good Luck!
Clean light flashing 7 times. Can't start the machine
The cleam light blinking means that the unit was not able to reach a proper heated wash cycle. Either your heating element failed orthe actual sump/pump motor system has failed. Check the element in the botton and see if it looks broken anywhere. If you can see a broken spot, you will k now that is the trouble.
Good Luck!
Soap dispenser not opening during wash
Most of the time the dispenser unit fails. It has a wax motor syetem and it just fails. Since you have to takethe door apart,I would suggest calling for service.
Good Luck!
Loud buzzing noise coming from motor when running.
you either have something stuck in the impeller area or the motor bearing is failing.Honestly, this type of pump/sump assbly is NOT a part that can be serviced. you have to swap them out for a new sump/motor unit. Approx cost part # 8572617 = 186.00US plus labor and a service call.
If the unit is working fine, just a bit nooisey,I would let it be until it quits.
Good Luck!
Trash Compactor Problem
Had a similar problem with mine. I took it apart and found that the nut that is on the bottom end of the ram screw was loose. I tightened it and it fixed the problem. That was about a month ago. Now it is doing it again. I'm going to tighten it again this weekend and apply Loc-tite to the threads.
To get to the nut, you have to lay the compactor on its side and remove the plate from the bottom. You'll see a chain that goes around the motor sprocket and both ram screws. You need to tighten the nuts on the ram screws.
Hope this helps.

Top jets not working
I had the same problem on my LG washer, Check the plastic fitting that takes the water to the top section is securely pushed into its socket at the bottom of the inside of the dishwasher. It was the problem with mine and it pops out every so often. I've thought of gluing it in but Im worried It'll prevent access for more serious repairs.
Dave.
