My guess is the bearings in the wash pump are bad. This does not happen very often and usually happens with a dishwasher that does not get used on a regular basis. The seals dry and let water into the bearings. If this is the case it does need to be attended to as it may start leaking water and cause floor damage.
I hope this helps
Have Kenmore model 15882. "Clean"
Hi
If clean light is blinking 7 times then it may be an issue
with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump. If yes then please reset the power
to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same
error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try
pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High
Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi
Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and
then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and
reset.
If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the
water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make
sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently.
You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between
3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then
make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine.
Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more
information.

How do i find the model number
Model Number Locator Tips
1. A zero in the model number might be the letter O.
2. A lower case L might be a 1.
3. Some models have 3 digits and a period first, like this 555.66666666
Look for an aluminum tag--or a silver and white adhesive label in the locations illustrated below.
The model number may be printed or stamped onto the tag and may be printed in different
type sizes. NOTE: There may be partial model numbers on marketing stickers or in the owner's
manual. These are often incomplete. For best results use the model number from the tag.
I've moved to another home and would like to
If you new home doesn't already have a branch line for a dishwaher, I'd get a plumber to install a copper T on the existing line then a second shut-off valve for the dishwasher. If there is ever a problem with the dishwasher, you can shut off its water supply without intrupting the sink water.
Clean light flashing - no other buttons available
If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...
When
the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will
stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all
buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the
element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...
-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry
...all
the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic
cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2
minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.
If
the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit
(ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could
also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed
(slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door
when you close it).
Kenmore dishwasher how to remove door of main soap dispencer to r
First you need to find out if it really is a spring or is it a rope system. Remove the lower panel and look to the left or right and see if you have a "spring" or is it a "rope". IF you have a rope, you will need to slide the dishwasher out so you can get to the back of whichever side it is broken on and make the loops required.
Good Luck!
Kenmore Dishwasher Problems
Just for the degergent item.....The Sears repairman told me to not use the gel type detergent but only use cascade complete and to use very little of it..

dedra, you should call for factory service on this so you don't void the warranty. You could have a couple of things going on here. If your model starts with 587, you have a seperate drain pump on this model. The impeller in the pump could be jammed with something or the control module might not be sending power to the pump. The fact that it operated normally the first two times you used it leads me to believe that the drain lines are ok. I have found debris caught in the impellers from the factory on some of these new 587's. Best to call for service, all costs are covered...Catriver..post back.
Kenmore dishwasher 16182 won't start
make sure the door is closing properly. if the door is closing properly you could have a door switch problem.there may be other problems but i would check the door first.
Re:dishwasher
Ginga, first of all it's still under warranty so I would call for service. Here's a few things to consider; first, I would switch back to the powdered detergent like Cascade. You want to make sure that the water entering the dishwasher is at least 120 to 150 degrees, anything less will cause the detergent not to dissolve. Check your loading and make sure nothing is blocking the spray arms from the soap dispenser. Make sure the spray arms do not have any cracks or splits. After the dishwasher fills, make sure that the water level is right at or just below the heating element, a short fill will cause this also. Catriver...post back.
My older built in Kenmore 3380957 Rev.A dishwasher.
If it is doing when it is washing, then it likely to be a problem with the pump, but it might just be 'hunting' because the filters are partially blocked. There is the filter that you can see easily, but there is a fine filter underneath that blocks with fine grey lint.
Water left in the bottom can be caused by that because the drain pump is past the filter and is on a timer.
