This is a 26 year old unit with a broken belt! I would say it has served you well and you should retire it for a more energy efficient unit. No insult intended. You might get a few dollars from the metal recycler in your area or at least a free pick up and disposal from the same person.

They overload easy, and get out of balance easy, so check for those two problems by rearranging or removing some clothing.

If you live in or near a big city, there is a part you might use that might solve this problem. I bought one for my daughter's house. It is a "split hose", it is in the shape of a "Y". You screw the bottom of the "y" to the water outlet, then screw the top two legs of the "Y" to each of the connectors on the back of the machine, means you have whatever water that the Y is hooked to going in to both of the connections on the back of your machine. Be blessed.

What model Kenmore is "this washer"?

The nut that is on the top is coming loose. A lock washer and/or some lock tite should take care of this.

I would check the agitator dogs, as they are called. Sound like a clogged or faulty pump! Also check your drain hose.

If you can get a garden type water hose near there, try to carefully use it to blow the water backwards through the drain hose. Put the hose up to the drain hose end and wrap a rag tightly around it and turn the water slowley. This may free up any debris from the hose and pump. If anything comes out,clean it out of the tub before you turn it back on.

The tube is the water level pressure. one end goes on the outside of your tub the other goes on the sensing unit neat the inside the control unit

I hope I haven't got it wrong and please do not take this the wrong way but you may be under the impression that you have somehow emailed 'Kenmore' to pass a comment whereas it is actually to a washing machine general forum. First make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the bottom of the unit, after this test the lid switch assembly, you can jump it to test it. If the lid switch is also fine then the control board should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

If the water is soapy, it could be the tub seal or the pump or its hoses. You would need to remove the cabnet to see exactly where it is comming from.

check the lid safety switch on the unit.,its located under the lid,and kills operation of the unit if the lid is opened during operation

a safety mecanisim built into washers is the top lid switch it detects when the lid has been opened if you do this whilst its spinning it will engage a powerful brake as you saw to stop the barrel so you dont reach in and loose an arm its perfectly normal. if the washer goes unbalanced wait turn the power off at the wall wait till it stops spinning then re arrange the cloths

Hi

You'll need to replace the overlay screen if you need the washer keypad to work. In case the moisture has entered inside the keypad you may need to replace the electronic control assembly. Please check part#6 (overlay) and part#7 (electronic control) in the diagram---
