Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-drive.
Restart the computer.
Press F10 and then "change boot order" to FIRST try to boot from the CD-ROM.

you will need to download the drivers for audio card

Normal 0 You can download the network drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model computer and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

You are going to need to download your Compaq's driver's off of their main website. I have pulled up the driver's page for your Desktop, but due to the fact I do not know what type of driver's it needs or what Operating System you are using I can not help you any further. If you are using Windows xp Your internet driver will be called:
Intel Gigabit Network Connection Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP
There are only one driver for all the other necessities you need.

if u r having isues with the sound system of ur PC then most probably the IRQ of the sound chip is out....no new driver can fix it....

buy this on Ebay for 1$...it's called USB Sound Adaptor

right click "my computer" and select "properties" then click on "Hardware", Inside the hardware, select "Device Manager"
Inside the Device Manager, see whether there is a yellow Question mark before the start of any name, If there it will be the driver which either not there or not updated. Right click that driver and the first option will be update Driver. Select it and it will ask you to update automatically, select it and it will search on the internet for the best available driver for your hardware. If there was more yellow Question marks with the items in the Device MAnager, then repeat the same process with all. If ther was no Yellow Question mark, then select "Sound,video and game controllers" and select for the option of sound it in and right click it, and select uninstall driver. Once uninstalled then Inside the control panel, select add new hardware. and follow the steps which come in your way. If no yellow question mark, then once the Device Manager is opened, right click the first thing written inside the box, and the option will come " scan for hardware changes" click it, and u may find something like , Found new Hardeware, and it will start seraching for the drivers automatically using the internet

DDR SDRAM type Ram i.e. DDR1 with 266mhz speed with DDR266/PC2100 compliance. You can simply ask for DDR SDRAM 266Mhz or you can find online with the similar compliance, DDR266/PC2100 Compliance.

I hope you still have the old one which was installed on the system, if so look at the white sticker, it should be labelled there...

Hi, you have not said what operating system you are using, but it sounds like you need to insert your CD that contains your operating system and selecting restore. If not come back to me for more help.

You can verify if the driver for the NIC is installed correctly at the Device manager. If its installed correctly, then there would be a mismatch between the subnets of the modem and the computer. Verrify the IP of both the computer and the gateway

Then it looks like you have either a faulty hard drive, or a corrupt windows installation..
If you cant boot your PC, you may need to buy a new hard drive.
You can fit your old hard drive later to recover any files you dont want to loose, you can do this internally or with a usb hard drive caddy

You need to goto the manufacturers website, find their support section and there should be a list of drivers for your specific machine. Installing these should resolve your problem.

You can upgrade the speed of the CPU. Of course in order to do that you must know the motherboard capabilities. If the motherboard is upgradable to 2.0ghz processor with the same specs with your 1.8ghz processor then you can upgrade. If the motherboard is un-upgradable, my suggestion is to replace the motherboard, get a new processor, memory module, etc. Meaning you just bought a new computer. For the mean time, upgrade your memory module. Un-install the software that you don't need. Especially the one the eats up the processor speed.
