You need the os X disc.. Boot from the disc But don't install the OS again! Just click through windows
far enough until you get the regular set of choices on the menu bar. One of those menus is the ultitiles and one of the choices on that menu is Reset root password..
I have an intel based iMac Core 2 duo. I replaced
The gray wire is one of the antennae leads to the wireless card on the motherboard. The other lead is either white or black. Or the card may have three leads for the "N" speed. Wireless cards have white, black and gray wires for the antennae.

Sounds like you may have some permissions issues - I would suggest sticking in the OS disc that came with your iMac, restarting, and holding the "C" key when you hear the chime - this will make it boot off the CD. Once booted from it, go to Tools->Disk Utility, choose your disk, and do "Repair Permissions". Once that is done, you can quit the installer and restart. If that doesn't work, the next step I would recommend is running
DiskWarrior, which is $99 - this is like an industrial permissions/hard drive directory repair disc, used by many professionals. If that doesn't solve it, you will likely have to back up your user data and do a fresh install of the OS from the discs you have. Good luck!

Apple imac HDD install
Pretty sure any size, but they use 3.5" SATA drives, not 2.5 laptop drives. iMacs only use desktop drives so get as big as you want, or can afford with a big cache. The 17 imacs are hard to get into so search the internet on how to get in and replace it and to put the heat shield back in right. Be careful not to break the clips.
My imac 17
this may happen if your computer overheats. try waiting a few minutes before powering back on.
Is imac g5 17
Possibly, the newer G5 Imacs feature Intel 2 Core Duo Processers. While older generations, do not support Intel Core Duo or Intel 2 Core Duo Processers.
THE COMPUTER TURN ON
First (and this is going to sound stupid) check that it has both power and is connected to the computer. Second, if it turns on check that it is recieving a signal. For video cards, most computers keep the default display adapter as the built in one and you have to manually change it in your CMOS settings. Third, make sure that your computer or screen isn't burnt out. This can happen and is noticible if your screen says nothing or your computer doesn't output a signal. If you aren't sure check your screen with someone elses computer.
I dropped my mac lap top and the screen is a bit fuzzy, how can I fix it?
Thank for contacting Fixya, I will be glad to assist you. You cannot, without having a diagnostics performed by a certified Apple technician or Apple Authorized Service Provider. You may have damaged the video graphics card on the main logic board of your MacbookMacbook Pro.Unless you have knowledge on how to go in and physically troubleshoot this geniune hardware issue, I would recommend you do you to your local Apple retail store Genius bar, or Apple Authorized Service center near you and have your Macbook looked at.Just for your reference, I have taken the liberty to provide the store locator links to your local Apple Retail store as well as a general store locator for locating any local Apple Authorized Service center in your area.
Apple Retail Store(Genius bar - need to set appointment via this website link, if planning on visiting Apple store of choice in your immediate area)
Apple Authorized Service ProviderYou don't want to keep turning on the Macbook until you have it checked because it could affect more than just the video graphics card.Regards,-The MacTechTrainer.
