First look inside to be sure that you have a free PCI slot, this is WHITE and shorter plug in, on the mother board. If you have one available, or will become available when you remove old card, you can use any PCI video card.

Hp pavillion 533w wont boot up green light on
Hi ,
If the green light comes on on the front panel then it means the fan is spinning so what u can do is a self test for the monitor.Disconnect the vga cable from the back panel of the computer tower and then check if there is a message displayed on the monitor that should say check video signal or no inoput signal ,if there is no such message displayed then it means the monitor is a fault .If not then reset the memory card and then check .U can also run a test for the motherboard to do this u will have to remove the memory card and then turn the computer on if u hear long beeping noise it means the motherboard is fine .If u dont hear any sound then the mother board needs to be repaired or replaced...
all the best
My Hp pavilion 533w Desktop's dvd drive wont open or blink(light)
Try the brute force method: stop the pc, open its case, disconnect the data cable from the dvd, close the case and reboot, run a registry cleaner, stop the pc, make sure the hard disk is set as master and the dvd set as slave and reconnect the dvd, start the pc.
Pavilion 533w cannot read dvd from DVD ROM drive
The combo uses two lasers - one for the dvd and the other for the cd. If the unit works perfectly on cd and at all on dvd then the dvd laser has died and the entire unit with it, it can't be fixed. Buy a new dvd writer and junk the old one.
I have an HP pavilion 533w ,old computer, wouldn't
You can go ahead and do that but if the computer stops working again it means the memory is bad. You need to purcahse another memorycard for the better computer performance.
Or if you still have computer warranty call the manufacturer and ask them to replace your memory card.
I cant reinstall xp, it keeps asking for a restore
This may be of interest to you. I might not be seeing this exactly, so please bare with me.
Possibly, you are not doing the following
Tell your bios to make your dvd for now your 1st drive.
Insert your windows XP setup disk in your dvd drive and reboot your computer.
Your windows XP cd will ask you to push any button when your computer sees your dvd drive while booting up and will begin loading the drivers for your computer.
I think this was lacking. Enjoy
My monitor is blank and when my pc starts up there
The most common issue that could cause a lack of beep on startup is RAM related issues. Try removing and dusting the inside of the computer with compressed air. (Obviously, make sure that the computer is unplugged from the electric socket) As always, touch a metal surface before touching any of your inner computer components to dissapate static that can damage your components. After cleaning, remove the RAM and then reseat it in the motherboard RAM slots. You will have to apply slight pressure to reseat the RAM, so make sure that you push evenly on both sides of the RAM to prevent damage to the mother board. If this does not work, the problem may lie with one of the other components.
If there are not lights on the motherboard or case at all when you push the power button, the issue may be the PSU (Power Supply Unit)...
Hp pavilion 533w on startup goes to boot disk
Did it work well before? One thing I would check is the memory cards. Sometimes they get loose or the connection isn't good and the computer won't start.
The model I think you have is tough to open, there are directions on the internet if you need.
Another alternative, depending on your operating system, would be to use another computer to create a "start up disk" to use on yours.
There are also directions if you google it.
Could be so many things, just thought I would give you a couple quick things.
If this doesn't work, maybe I can be of more help.

How can you tell if your flat cables Master and
I believe you are talking about IDE cables.
If your IDE cable ends should have a small "tongue" and the drives should have a notch. These cables can only be connected one way.
Older IDE cables have a red stripe down one side. If you look at the interface for the IDE cables on your drive or motherboard, the #1 pin should be marked somehow. LIne up the red stripe on the cable with pin #1 on both devices and you should be good to go.
