This is an indicator that the waste ink pads are getting full The answer is to reset the counters This will get it going again but, you can onlky do this a few times before it starts leaking. So 1. resetting the counter- download this utility- www.ssclg.com- install it and right click on the taskbar icon. renewing the pads - messy business- you may want to install instead an improvised waste collection tank out side the machine Take a look at www.fixyourownprinter.com and search for Epson waste ink tank

Helps to turn the printer off when not in use as the heat tends to dry out the ink. Sometimes the heads just quit and have to be replaced. If you are sure it's just blocked remove it and flush with soft water, then buy some windex window cleaner, make a solution of 100 mls cleaner 200 mls soft water and soak overnight , flush with soft water and shake dry, hope it works.

Try using a soft cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol over the metal contacts. Make certain all residue to include spent ink or oil from your fingers have been removed. Let air dry. If your printers Print Head can be removed separately, that is the way to go when cleaning components. It has been known that Print Heads fail also and need replacement.

If you are wondering if that utility works with your printer - just google SSC and you can check the list of supported printers. Note that virtually no later printers have been added so many from past few years do not have a SSC utility that can apply. If you are looking for a Waste Ink Counter reset utility - just google that with your make and model and you will find UK outlets that can, for a small sum, supply you with such a utility. If in the USA - go to the www.epson.com website to get a free one. Note that as the USA serial numbers for printers, even the same model, are totally different to those on the same models in the rest of the World, they cannot be used - only ones with valid USA Serial Numbers can get the free utility. If you think a friend in the USA can send you the utility file - don't bother. It will just refuse to work with any printer supplied outside of the USA and using a USA friend's Serial will not work as the utility can recognise your printer's origin.

I would recommend cleaning the contacts (brass colored connections) with an eraser if might resolve the issue. It that does not resolve the issue it might be one of two other things. Either the printhead is cloged or the cable to the printerhead is damaged.

In case anyone else runs across this, the problem is caused by a blown fuse on the main board. It is labeled F1 and it is near the 3 tall blue capacitors. If you have a meter you can check across it,if it reads anything more than a couple of ohms it is bad. This is a fast acting 2.5A fuse. You can get a fuse and fuse holder at on line or at your local Radio Shack or similar store. I know the 230 is the European/Asian version so I don't know if you have something like a Radio Shack. The R220 is the US version and it is identical. You can jump it out but this is not recommended. If the fuse is not there, you could cause more expensive problems later.

You don't clearly described your problem. what types of problem of your printer? is it show red signal when you command print. i mean all signal light are on? if that then the way is unlock your printer by ssc service utility software. if not then please contract with me by mail.

you need software like Nero to print on cds

The symptoms point to some kind of contamination between the cyan and yellow. Most likely is that the yellow nozzles are picking up a small amount of cyan in the cleaning/resting pad when the printer is waiting to print... it's also possible the printhead has started failing and is allowing ink to mix somewhere before the nozzles... The former is more likely however, especially if you are able to print a few pages of yellow where the greenish tint/lines fade out to become pure yellow.. but then re-appear after the printhead has rested.Causes of this problem tend to be a backed up waste ink tube or failed pump.. Again it's more likely the former, especially if you've been resetting the waste ink counter and ignoring pad replacement or redirection of the waste ink.Simplest solution is to locate the waste ink tube (accessible via the access hatch in the back of the printer) and then flush the tube through using a syringe of warm water (don't use excess pressure). Then fit an external waste tank so that the pad ink doesn't back up again (and solve the waste ink issue at the same time).Obviously if the printhead or waste pump are failing then you have no other options beyond a new printhead, reconditioned model or new printer.Hope that helps... To help complete the pattern, feed copy papers to the printer and do atleast 40 blank photocopies and afterwards clean the head and check the nozzle.if it has not improved, repeat the same procedure until the pattern completes.mine also had the same problem but after doing that, it was solved for good.NB: Command copies without putting any printed paper to save ink.

most epson printers dry up after about 3-4 months so you will need to replace the cartridges and do a head cleaning about 3-6 times for them to work right. BTW the teardrop symbol means "ink".
