Laser jet produces printouts that are smudged and dark

Remove the toner cartridge and use a soft cloth to wipe the photo drum clean of toner. Put it back and try again, if you still get bad prints, then you need a new toner cartridge.

Printing blank page even in

Checking the toner cartridge
Image formation defects are many times the result of problems in the toner cartridge. If there is any doubt, always replace the toner cartridge before troubleshooting image defects.
Use the following checklist to make sure that the toner cartridge is still operable.
" Make sure that the toner cartridge is seated properly.
" Inspect the toner cartridge for toner level.
" Check the expiration date stamped on the toner cartridge box.
" Check the toner cartridge to see if it has been disassembled or refilled.
" Inspect the toner cartridge to see if toner is leaking through worn seals.
" Check the surface of the photosensitive drum in the cartridge to see if it has been damaged or scratched. Touching the drum contaminates the photosensitive surface and can cause spotting
and image defects.
" Blurred areas on printed pages indicate that the photosensitive drum in the cartridge has been overexposed to light. Because overexposure to light causes permanent damage to the photosensitive drum, the cartridge should be replaced.
Note A toner cartridge weighs approximately 863 grams (30.5 oz) when it is full, approximately 766 grams (27.0 oz) when it first fades, and approximately 742 grams (26.2 oz) when it is empty.

To redistribute toner in the cartridge

Before installing a new cartridge or when toner begins to run low, redistribute the toner by rotating the cartridge back and forth five or six times.

Have been unable to print web pages, emails, etc.

1) Make sure your hp 1200 is selected as your DEFAULT printer.

2) Check to make sure that it will/will not print standard wordprocessing doecuments from MS Word, MS Wors, etc. If iot does go to next step.

3) Turn the printer off, unplug it from the computer, them unplug the power from the printer. . wait 3 minutes, then power up again. Try printing again. If not successful, go to next step.

3) Unplug the printer's USB cable from the computer. Uninstall, then reinstall the printer's driver software from the original CD that came with the printer. Follow the prompts during the installation and plug the printer's USB cable into the computer whan prompted. Test print again.

Hi there our yeelow light is flashing on HP 1200

There can be a number of reasons for this. If you turn the printer off, disconnect the printer cable and then power back on, does the yellow light still come on? Or does it come on after you send a job to it?
If light comes on after send job then it may be the paper pickup roller is dirty and or worn. Take the toner cartridge out and check.
If the light comes on after powering up then you may have a paper jam in the fuser area. That is situated just before where the paper exits. The panels on this printer come off easily. You need to take the rear panel off and shine a torch in the fuser/heat roller area and see if there is any jammed paper.

Paper jam in HP 1200 printer

Hi,Make sure you got every single piece in there, and if you can't get it to work, just hard reset it. Unplug it from the wall wait 5 seconds, plug it back in. Should be good as new.

The LaserJet 1200 has two paper inputs, a regular paper tray and a priority input tray that is used for envelopes, labels and transparencies.
Paper jams rarely happen with the HP LaserJet 1200. If you can see paper sticking out of the input or output tray, try to remove it gently. If you encounter resistance or if the page tears, turn off the lights in the room to avoid exposing the toner to light. Open the toner door, which is above the paper tray, and the output door, and rotate the green levers down. At this point, you might be able to remove the jammed paper. If not, remove the toner cartridge.
Grasp the page in both hands and gently pull it free. Replace the toner cartridge and close the doors. The cartridge and the levers will slide back into place.

Hope that helps..

Not printing at all from computer. The test page

Try another usb cable to confirm that it is not a cable issue. Obviously the printer does not seem to be communicating with the computer.

good luck and God bless!

I was printing envelopes yesterday

It sounds like you changed the weight (thickness) of the envelopes being used or they aren't being fed in right.
Make sure the paper guides are snug against the envelopes.
Try rotating them 180 degrees (in which case, if that works, you may have to print your labels upside-down).

If this doesn't help, then my best suggestion is to get Avery address labels and print on those and stick them to the envelopes.

The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head that would cause that is a sudden change in humidity, but that's not something we can control!
