HP OfficeJet 6310 All-in-One Printer (Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax) w/USB Printer Cable , Retail - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Dell latitude d630 laptop - os xpp
You are a little confused. The ethernet cable will not fit into the USB socket. Do you mean that it is connected with a USB cable? Is the printer on, with paper loaded and the tray pushed right home? A bit unusual for an HP to jib. Make sure that all cables are well and truly home.

Officejet 6310 makes noice
Lift the Flat Bed Scanner up so that you can find the Cartridges Inside. Remove the Cartridges from the Printer. Move the Cartridge Carrier Back and Forth as fast as you can! Replace the Cartridges back to the Printer! Good Luck!!!!

Can't scan- Refer to device documentation to
Try using widows paint. Look in windows accessories off the start program menu. If you open windows paint, look for open file from "Scanner or Camera". Most likely you can get the scanner to work again in Vista. Otherwise...try Vuescan scanner software. I think you can get a free trial period online and it should also work. You'll have to pay for that if you like it.

Unplug and plug in. Check cable. Is the printer wired or wireless? Check status in Printer in start menu. Enabled or Disabled? Go to Device Manager check for printer, driver. Is there software for the printer?

I can not get to the scanner glass. I
Make sure there is no shipping tape still holding it down. around the edges.
If you can see inside, see if there is some thing on the glass that has melted or looks like it is holding the lid down. You can take a plastic or wood piece to stick under the lid so as to not scratch the glass to see if there is some thing on the glass holding the lid down.
Usually there is no problem with the hinge of the lid unless the unit has been dropped on the floor or crushed in shipping.
Hope this helps -
Must certainly be frustrating.

How do i get rid
lift the scanner lid and then open up the ADF (document feeder) mechanism off to the left.
There's a small glass under the ADF mechanism, and it needs to be cleaned.
Use a glass cleaner like Windex sprayed onto a lint free cloth to clean it.
That's it! put the ADF back down and close the scanner lid!
Problem solved!

My HP OfficeJet J6450 stopped
When installing the printer click on local printer and uncheck the box below it. I think it says something like locate my device. then on next screen click create new port, you should see USB001 in there.

My fax machine shows message
Several things can cause this.
The other end may simply not be answering (not a fax on the other end)
The phone line may be dead or not an analog line
The fax interface fuse may be blown (in which case you won't get a dialtone)
