i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).

Try these procedures.

The internal battery needs to be replaced. Digital cameras as well as some film cameras have a battery inside that maintains your settings. Unfortunately, these batteries are not user friendly for replacement. I have changes 2 of mine but, I also have 2 cameras that I just live with it. I don't want to tear apart a $1000 camera and mess something up.

Seems battery got bad and camera does not recognize it.
Take out battery, put it on charger and charge it, put back battery in camera and check.
If problem still exist, use new battery.

of course you need to check first, is it completely black screen. could be that its not even turning on.lucky if lets say beep feature was set to on . check if you press any buttons, is there any beeping sound. try to even press the playback and check if any icons will appear.or press the lcd button repeatedly and check if something will happen . if not , do power reset. take out the battery and hold the power button for 30sec. its like refreshing the memory of camera.. if still same thing. try changing batteries. camera also turns on by pressing playback button. if all ts fails, camera needs service. could be something wrong with its sensor.

The lensblock is faulty replace it

ACCESS error could happen when lens gets stuck but if it happens when lens moves back and forth without problem it usually means that where the lens assembly plugs into main system board connection is loose. These connections are held in place by a very small thin fragile plastic clip and a few drops could be enough to snap it but not do any other noticeable damage to camera. Camera would need to be opened to see if clip is broken or maybe cable just needs to me reinserted. Either way only open camera if no longer under warranty and you are somewhat handy

SD/SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

you likely have the setting switched to viewfinder mode, where the screen is turned off, for you to look through the viewfinder to take the shot. Look for it. It's there somewhere. If that's not it, look in that drawer that has the hammer...

The error you are getting is because of either System Error or Internal Memory Error.

I think you might need to take it to Sony since it is brand new. But Before that, I suggest that you take out its memory stick, the battery etc and keep the camera like that for about 15 minutes. Then only reinsert the battery (fully Charged) and try to power on. If you are lucky, you might not need to go to Sony

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
