if you formatted it then your probably going to have to get online via another computer, or a wifi connection if you have the drivers for it, and download the drivers, then install them to your laptop. By (re)installing vista (unless of course your using a recovery cd for that exact model) you ended up with nothing more then the basic OS with the absolute basic drivers.

Depending on the Microsoft product you are talking about. It should be located on the bottom of the laptop. If it is Microsoft Office product it should be in the PKC or Box with the DVD for 2003-2010 versions, and it for 2013 version it should be tied to your Miscrosoft account @ www.office.com

You should be able to unlock the touchpad by pressing the Fn button and while holding it down press the F6 button once and release both. If this doesn't work go to Control Panel and Device Manager and check that the drivers are installed and the device enabled. If these don't work you probably need to re-install the drivers. Cheers

This could be one of many possibilities. Check all your fans, too make sure they are running, especially if your CPU has its own fan, and you have good open ventilation around the cabinet. If someone has tweaked (overclocked) the CPU you could boot into the BIOS and use the factory default settings to undo any tweaks. You could also re-seat the CPU heat sink (rarely needed), which requires a tube of CPU heat sink goop and careful cleaning to get the old goop off.
